Blue, thanks for changing up the logo. It reminds me of the golden years of pc gaming when it was basically just you and Billy "Wicked" Wilson (RIP) pumping out the news. It's great to see that you're still doing it after all these years!

Looks like everyone lost interest in Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning already.

Fun game, but it has way too much content for a single player RPG. World is too big, too many quests, too many respawning enemies. You can tell it was originally meant to be an MMORPG. After a while it begins to drag on. You just want it to be over with. Gets too tedious.

YEP. I played like 30 hours into it, saw how much space I still hadn't adventured through, while already having become bored with the gameplay.

I actually played pretty far into it and then ran into a game stopping bug and rage quit

Weirdly it feels like they're trying to almost skip 4k...

I don't know if you guys have paid attention to monitors, but monitors are shit these days and TV's are so much ahead in technology. This whole 240 hz VA panels and such with almost zero good displays is ridiculous. You can buy a 48" LG CX TV that'll do 120 Hz @ 4k with better HDR/contrast and GTG for 2k than you can get a a monitor for.. It's dumb.

Yeah, I've noticed that. I really don't like the monitors being offered today. Some tvs are so much better, and actually at a better price for what you get.

Halloween: CDC says no trick-or-treating amid COVID-19.

Kind of surprised at this. Traditional trick-or-treating is outdoors, kids are socially distanced for the most part, and everyone is wearing a mask. I can see that you wouldn't want to go to indoor Halloween parties or parking garage "trunk-or-treating" (first time I've even heard of that).

Too many little kids walking around, touching their faces and eating stuff, parents walking around drunk, talking to each other, for what, candy? Too much of a risk for too little reward. Stay home, avoid Covid, avoid diabetes. The CDC is right (in my opinion) to recommend avoiding this sort of social event.

Were I live in the US, there has been a steady decline of trick-or-treating over the years anyway. I just think the culture has changed a bit in general. There was a time when you could just stop by someone's house and be always welcomed. And I'd love it when friends or family dropped by my house. It's so much different these days. You need a week to two week notice, a written invitation, and confirmation call just to see people. Times have changed

The way Netflix (and Amazon Prime) cancel shows left and right is so freakin' annoying. There were several series that I thought were really good, and just as you start connecting with the different characters, wham!

Hmm, I thought the court awarded $500 million to ZeniMax. Either way, as a software developer myself, I always thought it was unfair for my current employer to own my thoughts if they're written down (i.e. code, blueprint, etc). If I translate my thoughts into code for a company, then I should be free to use those same thoughts for any other personal financial gain. Kind of a grey area, I know. And you know it only happens to billion dollar companies. My current employer wouldn't even know or care if I took my algorithms elsewhere after they lay me off lol
Suits are multifaceted and you’re correct about the 4billion $500m payout.
From the wiki:
“ The jury trial completed on February 2, 2017, with the jury finding that Luckey had violated the NDA he had with ZeniMax, and awarding $500 million to ZeniMax. However, the jury found that Oculus, Facebook, Luckey, Iribe, and Carmack did not misappropriate or steal trade secrets, though ZeniMax continued to publicly assert otherwise. Oculus will have to pay $200 million for breaking the non-disclosure agreement, and additional $50 million for copyright infringement; for false designation of origin charges, Oculus and Luckey will have to pay $50 million each, while Iribe will be responsible for $150 million.”

In other words, a team of lawyers against another team of lawyers. i.e. $$$

Out of all the requested features that have been sent to them over the past 10 years (that have never been implemented), this is what they add? lol

I see that Valve is still practicing GDD (greed driven development)

Seems like a good competitive move to me. More xbox/pc exclusives, some pretty good IPs, and access to a pool of talent. They’ll just have to clean out Bethesda upper management and restructure so that ES 6 becomes the game that gamers want and not some cash grab bs

Eggs have a reputation among chefs for being the most simple food that is — secretly — the most challenging food to cook well. How someone prepares a plate of eggs in a crysis can tell you a lot about their knowledge and intuition in the kitchen.

So basically what you're saying is if the AI still sucks, then the answer is no.

There is a big part of me that really dislikes this early access phenomenon.

Games come out as EA, are bug ridden, incomplete, lack basic functions every game should have. By the time the game is complete it's years later, old news, the novelty wore off, and nobody cares anymore. You can point to a few exceptions, but the majority of the time these EA games are ghost towns by the time they hit version 1.0.

It's definitely way better than it was years ago. I've played quite a few early access games recently and for the most part, they play like completed games. I'm currently playing Grounded co-op and it's really good. I've also played Empyrion Galactic Survival and played it for months without any issues (although it has recently come out of early access). I think some developers are just better than others when it comes to early access.

I like watching his video sometimes because he's definitely thorough. But man, that guy can rattle forever! It makes me tired just listening

Anyhow, this definitely seem like it would be worth an upgrade. But I'm not building a new rig until next year, so will hold off until then. I want to reach my 10 year milestone with this one

It's 8.5 years right now.. I mean it's getting close.

Wikipedia says development started in 2011. The game was announced and the kickstarter campaign started in 2012. So basically development has been ongoing for 9.5 years

Anyhow, anything that comes out of this guy's mouth just sounds like bs at this point. It's incredible to think that the initial launch date for the title was slated for 2014. Talk about slippage!

"Now I am in a position to realize it, I am not willing to compromise it's potential because it is taking longer than I originally envisioned"
Yeah, like 7+ years longer! haha I've seen great games start in finish in half the time of their slip omg, it's such bs at this point

Visit me in Germany and you will

A) love brown butter instantly (when you make with me German/Nordic Rum cookies) - yes, there is rum in them.
B) love fish even more, because who the hell puts BROWN BUTTER anywhere near a FISH... not me, you get spices, salt, super fluffy well baked fish with a bit of citrus and nothing else. Baked in a bowl like thing for 30 minutes at 145°C, skin side down obviously. Does not taste like fish, tastes like literally the best thing ever.

Makes me incredibly sad to read you got spoiled from eating fish as a child, I had the same thing happen to me with red beets. I get physically sick just from the smell.. so yea..

Yeah, I'm not sure where this whole "butter on fish" thing started, but here in New England, if you're a true New Englander, you hardly put anything on it so that you can get the nice delicate flavor of the fish itself.
Even with shellfish, if I see someone dipping crab, lobster, or clams into melted butter, I just want to give them a batman slap!

It's kind of weird how ingrained these experiences are, particularly when it comes to food. All it takes is one bad experience when you're a kid and you can never get it out of your head. Luckily, my mom was careful and introduced different types of food slowly as I got older. But the problem for me is different. I can't get the food I really like in restaurants where I live. I have to make it myself, which in the end, pretty much made me a seasoned cook (no pun).
