Seems more fun than ESO after watching gameplay vids of both. Subscription doesn't bother me for sandpark game like this. Looks like there will be lots to do and a nice focus on grouping (co-op).

I actually think I'm gonna hold off on this one for a while. After watching all the gameplay vids, it just doesn't seem like a $60 + sub game. To charge that kind of money, it better truly be next gen mind-blowing game, and it's not. It unfortunately seems like a "too late to the game" game.

I hate to say this, but Wildstar looks more fun. :-hides-:

What a waste of nice graghics. It's so old school twitch, there's barely any time to focus your eyes on anything other than the crosshair. It might as well be 20 year old graphics.

MS made something like 78 billion in revenue last year. That's not because retailers all bought tons of MS products that nobody in the whole world wants and it sits on the shelf forever. I hear this every year, and every year they somehow make more money than the year before. Love them or hate them, they're not going away for a long time. I think we can stop with the doom and gloom predictions

Exactly. All the haters want them to fizzle away, and that's just not going to happen. They offer a lot of good, particularly to the development community. MS has never really been a consumer company other than their games division, so I don't understand why people even want to compare them to Apple or even Google. They provide businesses with productivity tools, just like they always have, and businesses still buy their stuff.

Also, I really don't understand all the complaining about win 8 (8.1). It's literally one click on first boot and your OS behaves almost identical to Win 7. Are people really that lazy and/or stupid? Sure, I can understand if you don't feel a need to upgrade, so don't. But to complain about something that's really easy to use and not much different from the one you're currently using is just plain stupid. If you really hate it, move on and use Linux. And don't come crawling back.

Actually, Windows Phone has been rapidly gaining market share over the past year. This is due to the decline of iPhone and Blackberry sales and all the problems associated with Android security and OS fragmentation. Also, Surface RT hasn't been that big of a hit, but Surface Pro 2 is becoming the laptop replacement of choice for businesses. A couple more iterations of the Surface and it will be a game changer. The video out is pretty high res for an extension monitor and you can pretty much run any MS app on it, even developer tools.

So don't let all the hipster hate skew the facts.

Personally, I have mostly Apple devices as a consumer, but they haven't really added many productivity features for business, and 99% of the apps on the app store are useless. For consumer, sure a simple to use dumbed-down device like Apple is where it's at, but for productivity, I wouldn't even think of using Apple unless you want to pay your employees to reinvent the wheel.

As much as I wanted to love The Secret World, I just couldn't look past all the crazy and obvious issues with it. I mean, most of them seemed to be very simple tweaks, and It was as if they had no clue that these simple problems were what ruined the game. Very strange. I would definitely play this game again if they just hire a few good designers to fix the darn thing. It could be so much more if put into the right hands..

Because chefs make food their bitch?

Because after eating their products you are left hungry despite paying vastly too much for art-decor on the plate with miniscule portions that wouldn't even make a toddler full.

Typical American. "I don't care about taste or presentation, just give me a trough of food so I can waddle away happily full! In fact, just point me to the buffet!".

Well that was a rather boring read. Newell's answers are (mostly) botlike. Got the jive that he would rather be doing anything else with his time...

Could be, or maybe he's just an introvert and socially uncomfortable.

Or maybe it's just that he knows that gamers are never happy with anything, so why get himself into a lose lose situation?

I don't blame him for giving robotic answers that really don't amount to anything, because if they did, gamers would just pick apart everything he said and bash him just for the fun of it. I guess that's just the way it is now.

Just another excuse to raise the cost for everyone. And when technology changes for the better on their end, do you think the added cost on our end will ever go down? NO!

Well done, governement... why don't you just bring back asbestos ceiling tiles and slavery while you're at it?

Yeah, and their simple minds probably just thought "let's switch to Open Source to save money." LOL Yeah RIGHT! Good luck with that!

They had the chance to make something great (like an actual online version of an ES game), but instead built yet another last gen mmo with the same feeling and gameplay as all the rest. So disappointing.

what's with this new trend of putting a price tag on alpha software? And people are freakin buying it? Then the devs get lazy, they take forever to finish it if it gets finished at all, or just stays in beta forever. lol

I'm tired of monthly fees from anyone and everything. Seems like everyone has their hand in your pocket and wants to keep it in there month after month. And most of them don't even come close to warranting it.

Not that I disagree with that, because it's sadly true, but I prefer a monthly fee with MMO's. Free to play is far too often just a creative way to ensure that you spend more money on that "free" game than you would if you were paying a sub.

But, yeah. The way everything is monetized now it's just a personal preference of which method sucks the least.

I'm pretty damn sick of monthy fee MMOGs myself, but I can understand why people shy away from F2P. But there are a number of MMOGs that are very solid and F2P, without asking you to buy something every 30 seconds or gating content until you pay. One of the best right now of course is GW2, with it's agressive content schedule I find I am unable to spend money on a monthly fee to spend most my time sitting around in an MMOG waiting for randoms or for my raid to organize. That said, I have spent money in the game, probably about $130 over the last 1.5 years. (Do note that I'd have spent $270 in that time monthly payments) but by putting that choice to spend in my hand I feel that I spent less but I also feel more willing to spend. I have friends who play who haven't spent a wink over the $60 the box cost.

The recent trend, ala ESO, is monthly fee's with tuns of microtransactions. Asking me to buy something every 30 seconds AND charging me each month? GTFO!

I wouldn't necessarily call GW2 a F2P game because you do have to buy it. F2P to me is something you download for free and start playing for free.

Also, GW2 doesn't have the same feel as a true mmo where exploration and constant fear of getting attacked is messing with your emotions. It plays more or less like an action rpg, and the pvp is more like an arcade game. As much as I like the game, it really doesn't compare to some of the true old school games of the 90s and early 2000.

The feeling I get with most F2P games is "pay to lessen the grind", and that's a feeling I really do not enjoy.

When they bring back a true mmo where it plays with all your emotions and makes you feel like you're part of a living, breathing world, I'd be happy to pay for a monthly sub. Will ESO be it? I doubt it.
