I actually have no idea how they got by with T. Oblivion itself is quite "horrorific." Some of the guys in there scare the pants off me!!!

I just wish the elderscrolls.com forums had separate forums for the xbox 360 and the PC... getting so sick of hearing teenage boys "like omg... get a life dood" to everyone who complains... definitely a difference in the forums that say, WoW forums...

TO zoom back the screen a bit bring up the console and type "fov 90" It gives it that not so zoomed in look.

Does it leave it in first person?

Am I the only one who wants a mini-map as well that shows enemies, close by stuff, etc? Especially with the tall "grass" growth in some areas, you can't see around you that well... and with no peripheral vision you're kind of always wondering what am I missing just out of the corner of my eye...

Really???? After 6 hours I missed that. See that's why they need tooltips!!!

Had no idea you could do that... so the little character portrait on the right... you just mousie wheel in and out and it goes from character to paper doll??????

I'm looking forward to trying one of these out actually. I DO NOT want it riding on my graphics card taking away from graphics processing, just like I don't want my sound on this. Freeing up the graphics card to do graphics processing and only this is very important to me.

I'm also not in the mood for SLI yet since I have a $400 graphics card, so let me put a (hopefully) $100-125 card in this spare PCI-X slot that will solely deal with physics.

The game list is growing and the companies they are working with is quite impressive.

You can setup your potential active spells or weapons in number keys 1-8. Thinking about it more enabling the active spell probably works better since you have to keep moving, unlike WoW.

But my main gripe is that you don't see them anywhere on the screen and you have to go to the inventory to see what you put in what slot.

I played for 5 hours last night and love the game. Very immersive. I actually just followed the quest line and closed the first portal while still level one (need to find an inn). So much to do and already mods are starting to come out. This game easily has 100 hours of content and am so glad I bought this.

Saying that, I also feel the interface is extremely lacking. Let's begin with the lack of a "Paper Doll." How do I know that I'm missing items that I could be equipping? Is there amulet slots? rings? belts? I dunno... can't see this. Yes they show the character but I want to see little boxes that I can mousie over and see what is in each little slot and what I don't have in others...

Also for combat I think they need a WoW type interface. I put a spell to 4 and this only changes my active spell? I want to be able to press 4 and make it attack. I want to see my spells in a sidebar at the very least so I don't have to remember where I put each one and have to continually pull up the inventory to see this. They made the icons for the spells very intuitive, but it doesn't help if you can't see them...

Neither are showstoppers, but they're such prehistorical ways of doing things and not very intuitive or user friendly.

Combat - The only thing that bothers me here is finding your enemies out in the wild. It seems that the creatures "blend" in a little too well. Personal preference though. Horse combat sucks though. You have to dismount and then you can't find the damn enemy again. When you finally do you wind up hitting your horse instead of the enemy... Maybe a small mod where you can't attack your horse?

Oh yeah... and my only other gripe is that horses reverse the wrong way. I played more than one driving game in my time and can't get it right.

I thought it looked quite fun. Sure its a complete mod using the same engine, but still looks very fun. It seems like much better gameplay than UT onslaugh.

Also, has anyone else found that when "reversing" on a horse the left and right seem backward?

If anyone is interested, these guys seem to be doing a lot of work figuring out the .ini file and have had quite a lot of luck so far making the drawing distances and grass showing longer (at a framerate hit)...

Meat posted a nice review at the end of yesterday morning's oob if anyone is interested in ready.

PCGamer gave it a 95% (written by a decent reviewer) and so far most people over at elderscrolls.com have been loving the game.

Wow... I thought we liked this game?

I'm really enjoying it. I picked it up around 2 months ago and its been my game of choice whenever I have a chance to game. Haven't played F.E.A.R., Call of Duty 2, or Civ4 much since I got this at the same time. The gameplay is just awesome and I just never find it gets boring. There's so many incredibly well balanced maps that I haven't even started playing the expansion pack which I bought at the same time. Also, depending on your mood you can pick a different character and play in a different manner... some days I just feel like sniping and some running around with a bazooka...

Sure the load times are long, but I have everything maxed out and have never had a frame rate drop or a crash. This game has been solid as a rock and is one of the best looking games out there. I keep a Sudoko book next to the computer and this kills the time in between the maps loading. I do not recommend playing the game with anything less than 2G RAM. You just don't get the same pizazz!

But then again... I get Oblivion today and I think about once again that I will never get around to beating HL2.

Meat... thx for the review... I have a similar setup to you (3800+) so glad to hear that it's going to run awesomely!!!! Was really worried about that rumor and was trying to read everything to comfort myself. Have to say though... do you really expect someone not to run... towards or away from you when you're plucking them with arrows??? You could always do range/melee? Then again I haven't played it yet.
