Guys, I have a market research assignment due on Friday and am trying to get some feedback. If you have a second can you go to the morning's consolidation and answer the multiple choice question there regarding the PS3's price.

Guys, I am a student that has a market research assignment due in a few days and could use some help with your opinions.

Thanks,
Drew

Sony is releasing its successor to the Playstation 2 video game system, the Playstation 3 (PS3) in time for this holiday season (Nov. 17th , 2006). The price will be $599 for the upper end model and $499 for the lower end model.

More information on the PS3 can be found at:
http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/about.html

What do you think of the price Sony has set for the PS3?

a. I would purchase at even higher prices.
b. I would purchase at this price. The PS3 is worth this price.
c. I will not purchase at this price. PS3 is worth this price, but I cannot afford this price.
d. I will not purchase at this price. PS3 is not worth this price.
e. I have no interest in purchasing a PS3 at any price.

This refers to you or someone in your household.

If you would purchase the PS3, would you do so without using one in person? or without seeing a positive review?

Actually Wired or some other magazine ran something about this game having spyware in the game...

http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060623-7122.html

"...it has been discovered that the publishers, Left Behind Games (a publicly traded company, even) have added money-changers to their particular temple. The game comes fully loaded with what some would term built-in spyware, in the form of in-game advertising that tracks the amount of time ads are seen, how often the game is played, and the player's geographical and personal information. It then sends this data back to the advertiser's servers. From the horse's mouth:

"All Double Fusion campaigns provide detailed campaign reporting for full accountability, and, unlike other media, advertisers only pay for the time their ads are seen...unlike TV, unlike the web, and unlike print. No medium is more accountable and measurable in terms of the actual time spent with advertising."

"Double Fusion's In-Game Ad Engine is a software component that gamer developers insert in their games. The Ad Engine is the seamless interface between the game and the advertiser servers, and works as a broker between the two, calling advertising creative elements as needed, providing them to the game to be displayed as ads in the game, and tracking impressions and views and reporting back to the advertising management servers.""

They kind of remind me of murlocs....

Saying that I actually would love to see an updated graphics engine MMO made by Blizzard in the diablo universe.

"as WoW does"

hmmm... that's odd. I would think the player base for the game alone would show that it didn't suck balls. If not that then the fun and enjoyment factor years after release with tons of replayability. I find this is now the longest running game I have ever played (UT original was previous). Blizzard's quality has also managed to produce an actual solid game... one of the few that I haven't run into a single glitch... not to mention the add-on community and the in game communities that form... yeah, WoW sucks balls..

In my area, the manager had a manager special about a week ago at Walmart getting rid of this and the Warhammer 40k goty edition (game + winter assault) for only $5 each in a bargain bin near the electronics section. Worth checking in other areas.

Umm... am I missing something? They didn't look pretty at all. Maybe I don't like the art direction, but thought Company of Heros looked better and C & C 3 looks much better. This looks quite old and outdated compared with even Rise of Legends which has already released.

If anyone is interested, I'm not sure if it was a my store only thing, but WalMart had FEAR marked down from $45 to $5 in the bargain bin. Great buy!

sweet... no reason to even think about "possibly" getting a PS 3 now! This was the only reason I could think of... now I can buy an Wii and this game for the PC and others for the wii and still be less than the price of the PS3.

Really, my wife actually asked for us to get the Wii for Christmas for each other with some games! She hasn't played games since MarioKart and thinks this will be a great "party" system and something we can do together... isn't that what its all about?

I really think Wii hit the mark! I can actually imagine families picking this thing and actually playing game together!!! I can imagine my wife enjoying this with me and even pulling it out to play with guests and any of the games being just as enjoyable for the party as the MarioKart games. A great real "gaming" machine that really seems to have everyone realizing again that gaming is about having fun and interacting. It definitely hit the mark.
