Someone please tell me I'm not the only one waiting for this game. As a hard-core RTS fan this game sounds brilliant.. and it looks like it'll have the attention to detail that makes a great RTS game.

I absolutely can't wait to get my hands on this one... it's on the same level of anticipation as waiting for Warcraft III, or Age of Mythology...

rent the movie because the special deal with blockbuster has been reinstated saying that the movie does not come out to buy until it has been in rental for a while.

actually I just watched the "trailer" for the game on fileplanet.... this looks quite good. not sure how it'll play, but I'll get it just for the movie content... wish they just put out an extra dvd though as this means I'll have to pay to see the movie, buy the game, rent the movie, buy the movie... total cost in GBP £67 to see everything that should have been in the movie anyways... that's $100!!!

No one here has touched on what i think is the reason for 10 cd's ... i mean 6. Copyright. If they can require six CD's then it's harder for someone to just copy all .iso's and share them. Well at least until someone makes a warez version combining everything into one file.

They may not be using all the space on all 6 disks, but considered that it was cheaper than really good copyright protection. And the fact they are using 6 disks just shows me that they should have used a better video encrytion method... they can't be using divx or xvid here...

Call me critical, but it just seems a gimmick since people will see it and support it. It'll probably even have a "some of the money goes to charity clause on the packaging...

sounds to me like they're just trying to milk the everquest name as much as they can... well, if they created Everquest 2 then maybe... but Everquest the RTS??? No self respecting RTS player will play this!

hmm... call me a sceptic, but "private beta" and releasing it next week kind of sounds like a "fileplanet exclusive..." ... the way things have been going anyone else care to spectate. I for one will be glad.

Actually to add to the weirdness... there's been sunshine in London for a month and a half... now, maybe it's just me, but I like complaining about the weather here, but it's just been a weird sunny and nice!! Without that to complain about, I'm left to only complain about the brits!!

Oh yeah, since fred brought it up... why do americans feel they need flags everywhere? is it something to do with running out of toilet paper or something? I mean... it's almost gotten to the point of idolism... no where else in the world are the people so proud of such a corrupt government... not only that but the majority of american's who fly the flag so "patriotically" .. oops meant brainwashed (I pledge allegiance...)... have never lived outside the US to see if there is somewhere better and have nothing to judge their narrowmindedness and patriotism on. I could keep going, but that's my two cents as I'm sitting here listening to Bruce Springstein (ironic isn't it... )

I'm downloading it, but haven't played this mod. Is it even better than normal BF1942 or is it just a nice change?

Anyone else who played this game care to throw the Bullsh*t flag on this one?

There were three of us playing this game for 5 days and couldn't beat that race! We were using the keyboard and it was absolutely impossible. You'd get to the final lap by some grace of god and then the slightest error on a turn and you were out.... It sucked... Don't normally look for cheats in any game, but didn't feel bad at all about cheating on the race...

is it just me ... or does screenshot 48 show that someone is worried about size?

I think a post-apocolyptic FPS would be fun... a mix of all different types of weapons from different ages... mutants and such.

Also I think there should be a nowadays game. You could use tomahawks, battleships, aircraft carriers, chemical weapons, nuclear weapons, napalm, etc... might be hard to carry out, but would be fun... imagine an Gulf War 1 MMORPG/FPS like planetside... (and no I'm not thinking I'm being very politically correct for the current environment, but hey... the war will last for years, it's time to forget about it.)

Have to admit... sounds as good as adding rollerblades to the game to me...in other words it'll really make it weird. At the moment when you're running you don't really look up for planes. Now you have to monitor the sky above you... don't like this idea at all...

oh yeah... isn't the asian add-on for this actually vietcong? It's getting some great reviews and seems to stand on it's own two feet quite well.

All I can say is that is a mistake. The casual gamer does not necesarily have a DVD Rom... talk about someone needing to fire their market research/distribution team. I care nothing about this game... but this is absolutely abismal...

OK.. .Empire Earth... Empires... Empire II... whatever you want to call it the first game was great and the expansion fit in perfectly. I played it for months before AOM came out and still go back to it every once in a while. Quality game with great attention to detail... what more expect from Rick Goodman. The next game sounds similar to the last one... but not really the last game was 6000 years!!! This one focuses it down a little. It should be brilliant and hearing that Stainless Steel is coming out with a "sequel" ... this sounds great!!!

I have to say I've been listening to the FilePlanet Raves for a long time. I subscribed about 6 months ago. I do live in Europe. As I'm sure most adults on this forum realise, you don't get something for nothing. Yes, it used to be free, but then again, it is a business... that's marketing for you... To actually be able to take this off developers hands so they no longer have to worry about the heavy loads and to also make it more marketable by securing exclusive rights to certain demos a week before others!!! How can you complain?? It's a company that's trying to make money. Sorry, boys and girls... it's a real mans world out there. You don't always get it for free... if you do then you don't always get it before the people who pay.

It's actually quite cheap each month for what you get... fast access to patches, exclusive demos, downloading movie trailers... but then again... I realise (by your comments that I've endured time and time again) that we're not wage earning adults that play games.

Actually I'm an avid RTS player and played the preview for about an hour yesterday. I have to say that I didn't like it. The look and the feel of the game was off. Maybe I'm too used to Age of Mythology/Empire Earth/Cossacks/Warcraft3/Total Annihilation/Star Craft/ but any of those I could pick up having never played them and enjoyed it and loved the attention to detail that was all around me. Generals seemed a real challenge just to control as nothing seemed to be intuitive and the detail seemed to be a little lack luster. Can't help but thinking it was rushed.

EA are having such a bad reputation for releasing things too early and not as polished as it could be. I can't help but think of how many headaches I'll get from this game?

My other gripe is the simcity look to the game. As I'm playing SimCity 4 at the moment I see to many similarities in the look of the scenery. It seems EA is making EA games now and they all seem to meld together. Will you be able to import your sims into C&C Generals?

I might still pick this game up for the final version but I don't even want to play the preview anymore after an hour.

Haven't tried it myself, but it'll come out around the same time as AOM... imho, I think this will be the "nice little replacement for those tired of WC3"
