I've genuinely enjoyed the time I've played over the years....but between designer feature creep and the userbase demand for 'realism'...this project will never be completed, no matter the amount of money that's thrown at it.
The cancer of Star Citizen are the flightsim nerds that have a masochist streak finding enjoyment taking 30 minutes to get up from bed, pick a mission, and leave a hangar. Flight time to pickup middling cargo and transport: 2 hours.
30 mins to get out of bed to a hanger? *snickers* 5 mins tops.
Flight time to pickup cargo... well are you doing a delivery (fed-ex mission), or cargo hauling (going and buying cargo and running around to make a profit)? A fed-ex mission, maybe 5 mins (unless ya started on Orison which is a gas giant and can take 5-15 mins to fly out of depending on ship), and Cargo running depends on the cargo you're hauling and the final sell point (20 mins tops).
That being said I put in for 60 bucks to get Star Citizen and SQ42, but that's it. Money is easy to earn in game.
The BIGGEST issues against this game from ever being released is as follows
1) They are putting the horse before the cart. They are still developing the tech. and implementing things way outside the scope of the original game. They are also developing a MMO universe, and they tend to break as much as they fix.
2) Chris Roberts. A publisher always kept him in line on his projects, and sadly the lack of this and the tons of money put into the game will be the game's downfall.
