I tried the Multi player demo a few times. It doesn't play like UT2004, but it certainly looks exactly like it. If I were to guess what ONS version 2 would look like, Tribes:V would be it. I don't like it and won't be buying it.

Novalogic is officially clueless.

I like JO a lot and I have to admit the current game isn't even up to par with what the box that the game comes in says. There are still no persistant player STATS as promised. There are a lot of bugs, granted not show stoppers, but some are a real nuisance.

At this moment I certainly would not consider buying an expansion of a game that has an incomplete feature set.

There were more than just the two most recent demos released. There were also two previous beta demos, i.e. v0.91 and v0.92.

Certainly, Riley Pizt-a-shit, I am happy you can get so technical about the demos, but, NEXT TIME DOWNLOAD THEM AND PLAY THEM. You call the game a mindless shooter, well, you are a mindless consumer. Take some accountability. Ok? Thanks.

Wow, you are easily amused.

Hey wow, it's that semi-retarded guy that:

1) Stated the Painkiller Demo did not reflect the true game because it was to old, but Dumbass was corrected (it was actually a very new demo that came out before the game).

2) Once corrected with point 1, dumbass went on to state that it wasn't because it was to old, it was because it didn't reflect the game, even though the levels themselves came from the game, one map displayed close quarters fighting, one showed open area fighting, one should a Boss level fight then PCF even threw in an extra map right before release. Plenty enough to get a feel for what it would play like.

3) Then after a few posts of argueing about it, the dumbass goes on to say,
but as I posted earlier I never played the demos
. He never even played the friggin demos!!! But yeah, ESP boy here can state that the demos are not
necessarily indicative of the full game
without even trying the demo out.

So dumbass once again comes to the boards to rip Painkiller becuase he paid for the full version without even trying the TWO demos that were released for the public to try.

Dumbass.

I played the demo but I don't like it enough to buy the full version, the camera controls really irratated me. But I hope that the people that do like it have fun because thats what it is all about

I give them props for being one of the very few MMO's that are totally unrestricted PvP. Some people just can't hang in that environment where sitting in a corner pulling dumb AI doesn't work as a skilled human will come and take them out and loot their precious little bitmap swords and armour.

Most of these MMORPG's are making money. It's just a lot more competitive, and companies like Blizzard Sony are raising the bar on quality standards. (WoW's stress test is without any lag or server downtime--a feat I would have said was impossible before experiencing it). The small shops are just finding it almost impossible to compete in this genre anymore.

Umm, yeah, kinda like the .com bust, the biggers companies (amazon, google, etc) are still around and making plenty of money and the little startups that investors gave millions too went down the tubes... why? because they couldn't compete, just like Dragon Empires, Mythica, etc. Your description as to why these last few MMO's have been cancelled is the same reason why many hundreds of small .com companies could no longer 'hang' with the big boys. I didn't say it was the .com bust, I said it looked like it.

Now stop paying Sony your money, and go play a real game.

Fortunately I have been MMO free for about 2 1/2 years, so don't worry about me giving Sony money (except for Sony's Stereo and TV electronics, I love the brand in that dept).

Also, I wasn't saying the MMO model is better, I was just saying that Guild Wars isn't an MMO, it's a Battle.Net pumped up a bit, and I'm not saying thats bad either, it is what it is. But it also won't be 'free' to see what is behind door #2. And voluntary or not, statistically people will buy the expansion packs religiously, I don't know anyone who didn't buy the Diablo xpacs.

I did enjoy GW's E3 trial, I will be getting the game also, I'm jonesing hard for a Diablo style Co-Op Online game to play with my buds. It's been a while since a fun Co-Op has come out.

Instanced zones are a great tool that was introduced by Anarchy Online and quickly coppied to other games over the last few years

I totally agree, it's a great tool for those few identified areas/zones within an MMO that are super heavily camped.

Your right, they are not MMO's (ie EQ, UO, CoH, AC, AO etc). They are Battle.Net clones on steriods. And everyone thinks that Guild Wars (and games like it, etc) is gonna be 'free' as compared to the MMO's, which is wrong. They will be coming out with Expansion Packs that will probably be MSRP of $30 every 6 months, which is equiv to $5 a month, yes, 1/2 of EQ, etc $10 (you can get $10 if you go with a longer subscription) but games like EQ allow you to have thousands of people in game at a time whereas Guildwars will only have like 32-64 people in an 'instanced' area and even the lobbies in GW are instanced. And yes, MMO's now have instanced areas but they only make up about 5% of the game where GW is all instanced areas.

Just simply PR trickery. Not that GW is bad, it's just not an MMO by any means and it's going to have 'delayed' monthly subscriptions. Servers and Bandwitdh aren't free, the players will absorb that.

I don't like being forced to turn on a Red Alert mode because then all the units stop what they are doing and attack the invading enemies.

I found that if you 'tag' the invaders to 'kill' outside of the 'Evil Lair' your units would attack them before they even come in the base. So once and a while I would simply scroll around the outside of the base and 'kill tag' people as they snuck around. If it got really hairy on the outside I would send my two minions out to kick some ass. Not really that hard to keep them out.

I couldn't get the interrogation to work... anybody wanna give me a tip? I'd tell the prisoner to be interrogate, select the chair, then nothing would happen

Also, you cannot have the interrogation disrupted, meaning, you must keep the good do'ers out of your evil lair *Evil Grin* while doing the interrogation, it tells you if you were disrupted in the orange message window when you click on it.

They just got a sale with that demo, great stuff.

I laughed my ass off watching the petty thief get interrogated, my guys spun him around in the seat and punched him to stop the momentum, funny stuff.

and I expect it will become the next huge game (not just the next big mmorpg).

If I were a betting man I'd put my money on EQ2 personally, not to say that WoW will be a bad MMORGP.

I'm not sure if this game is also targetted for the XBOX or not, but I bet if it is then the XBOX'ers will get co-op, seems to be the trend. The PC Trend of co-op seems to be we only get co-op for military shooters, i.e. Rainbow 6, Ghost Recon etc. Oh well, one of these days a Dev house will make a good FPS and have co-op, make a lot of money and it will come around again. Guess well just have to wait for a Dev house to 'step up'. It's a risky venture to embark on a technology that was so popular in the past, I can understand why no one wants to touch it %).

it's a fun game with lots of potential but the bugs and glitches drive me insane.

Plus if you don't find a good server the games just get really ugly fast. But, when you do get on a server with people that know what they are doing, for the most part, the game can be an absolute blast.
