Just curious Furious (), I thought you had sworn off UT2K4 as not being worth it. What made you change your mind?

Oh, I still stand behind my statements that UT2K4 is UT2K3 Part 2 but I've always said that if you didn't buy UT2K3 then you are getting a good deal (plus I got UT2K4 for only $20). And I also still think ONS is terribly boring, like an unfinished Tribes game (regardless of launch bugs etc), but I guess if one has never played Tribes 1/2 then ONS would be fun.. I guess :|. I still don't play any of the legacy gametypes such as DM, CTF, DOM, etc and lacking rehashed gametypes like ONS as I think are are just.. done.

Gripes aside, node siege to me is simple but innovative, especially with Weapons of Evil thrown in for good measure (and with WoE, I'm talking about the configurable Sentinel Guns, not the new carryable weapons). It's a new mixed (NS + WoE) game type that I have never played so its fun, unlike the other gametypes that have been around within UT 99/03/04 and have never changed except for grahics... big deal.

So maybe you were right, the MODS will save the UT franchise cause god help them if the in the box games were it.

Hell, I've been watching the Bonus DVD of the SE to learn how to make maps. Ans I might even look at making a MOD

Where can I get node siege and Weapons of Evil? And what servers to play on?

Here is the link to Node Siege via the Unreal Message Forums: http://www.ina-community.com/forums/showthread.php?s=309ac2ae1a2cbb14587c4b5391e503f8&threadid=385240&highlight=Node+Siege

And then the Weapons of Evil: http://www.cheese83.freeserve.co.uk/unreal/woe.htm

When you install Node Siege it will become a gametype in the drop down list box within the internet server browser. Not sure how many servers have it, I just play Direct IP with my buddies aginst bots, and they know how to play Node Siege and how to use the Weapons of Evil... tough stuff.

All's I can say is "Node Siege" (new gametype) mixed with the "Weapons of Evil" mutator is rocking my world. Thats all my friends and I play now. Most fun I've ever had in UT 99/03/04.

Will it play better then WoW though ?!?

Not totally sure but the article stated that it (EQ2) was going to be more action packed then EQ1, something about being a cross between Diablo 2 and ... can't remember the other one. I read the article describing WoW by a beta player and can't say I was totally impressed, although playing as a Tauron would be fun. I still think WoW should have been PvP, would have made a great PvP game with the background and all, carebears = more money I guess.

PCG has a nice look at EQ2, not sure if I'll play it or not but I think it's going to dominate the MMO market, looks better then WoW.

Yes, well according to PCG's preview of GR2, we're not even getting a "GR" like game in the next GR!

Yep, it's going the path of Thief 3, 3rd person (with the ability to go 1st person if you want, but made to be played 3rd person) and console-ized. I was certianly sorry to read that in the latest PCG edition. Guess this is the future of gaming.

When your squadmates die, they get back up. AWESOME job, guys!

Yeah, I had read that in PC Gamer quite a while ago and took that off the games to get list, pretty stupid. Would have been cool to have a "Ghost Recon" like game for SW.

I thought the demo is/was cool, even though I suck tremendously at the game. I'll probably consider buying this game, if I can get a bit better at the demo.

The checkpoint system in Far Cry was perfect.

Perfect for people without kids or any real responsibilties in life. Just because a game has quick saves doesn't mean you have to use it.

DX:IW had a demo, although it had terrible reviews, it still had one. T:S, using the same engine and technology DOES NOT have a demo, can anyone explain that? Doesn't that seem a bit odd to anyone? The Devs must not be too confident of their product, no sale for me until I get a demo.

And game makers think they would rather deal with post "Gold" fixes rather than OUR demo input.

I hate to have to repeat myself...

What an asshole (Todd Hollenshead, that is).

Dragon Age will have a fully developed multi-player campaign that follows the same core story as the single-player campaign, but which is optimized for cooperative play.

Jesus, what are they doing? Co-op for the PC? They are so gonna fail, no one wants co-op for the PC, I mean, the research has been done by CEO's of companies like id, PC'ers just don't want co-op, what a stupid move. Bioware's a great company, but it's too bad they are making a co-op game for the PC, I hate to see there downfall, but, it's their decision to make. RIP Bioware.

In any event, the quoted responses are ridiculously angry

Your quite presumptuous, just like Todd. I didn't say he was an asshole in an angry manner, it was just an "Asshole" thing to say so I stated, in a calm and factual manner, that he is an asshole.

Does anyone know if there's a big difference between console gamers' and pc gamers' expectations about the presence of co-op?

Do you read message boards (besides this one)? One of the most consistant questions about any new game that comes out for PC's is "Does it have Co-op?". Then a 100 thread long discussion comes out pitting fan-bois against anyone who dares questions the Dev's reason's why Co-op was never done, most Dev's just say "Someone will Mod it.", which is a lazy response. It is known that PC'ers want a good Co-op game, not sure why you would question that.

There is no monthly fee. They have announced this.

Ah! Well, that is good. I might just give this a try then.. but not till next semester when I'm back on a broadband connection.

Hmmm.. well.. technically, if GW is going to sell expansions every 6 months or so to add quests, items, spells, etc.. and if they price those expansions at $40-50, then in MMO terms you'll be paying $6.66 - $8.33 a month. But I guess the spin is you don't have to get expansion but you can't see any new stuff either... and we all want to see new stuff :). Still cheaper then the new crop of MMO's at $14 a month but certainly NOT free.

GFX are all you need?
Bit of a shallow statement regarding todays games aint it?

Guess I said it wrong, I meant they are good enough for me to enjoy the game, I don't need cutting edge graphics to enjoy any game. So far I like it, runs great for an alpha build.

This being my first MMORPG, I really liked it.

No, this IS NOT an MMORGP. I'm not ragging on you or trying to be demeaning but you should really try a full fledged MMO before making such a statement. They are calling this a CORGP, meaning Cooperative Online Role Playing Game, so this being your and my first CORGP, it sounds like we both like it.

So far I like it, most released games aren't this stable... and this is alpha! Graphics are all I need, so they are fine with me.

I look forward to the release!!!
