I'm gonna just start dloading all warez versions and I'll send a check directly to the studio and bypass the publishers! That is if the game is any good. Maybe I'll have a sliding scale of payment rather than the zero sum game that is the video game crapshoot now.

It sucked paying $50 for Doom3 and maybe getting $25 of playtime. Bah, it's all subjective anyway.

First game I ever warezed was ThiefII. I loved it so much I sent a check for $100 to Looking Glass. Fat lot of good that did. It isn't that I can't afford video games, I just get REALLY pissed when I buy one that SUCKS.

Maybe I'm asking too much.

Yes, a paper trail is great! Why don't we have 2 paper receipts printed, one for the voter, and then another that's dropped into a ballot box. Then we tally up the Evotes and then tally up the paper votes!

Sure, it'd take forever, but then we'd be really really sure....right?

Bah.

Just get a warezed copy, and then mail a check directly to the programmers. That way you skip the middle man, i.e. publisher and get the money into the hands of the ones who that actually create something rather than f*ck it all up like most publishers do.

I've been playing this for a few weeks, and I'd have to say the graphics are very nice. The vehicles are cool, but I haven't gotten to drive them much so far in the game.

Otherwise, it's mainly kill enemies, search their bodies for ammo, and listen to the inane banter between the main characters.

I've played it about halfway through so far. At first it was a total chugfest on my P4-2.8gz, 1GB ram, Radeon 9800 Pro box running at 1600x1200 with all the effects set to high. It shouldn't be, but it was. I finally disabled the Spec lighting (adds luster effect) and then it ran a lot better.

At first I couldn't even get it to start up, because I was getting some D3D error. I finally found the problem: you have to enable the refresh lock under D3D setting in the ATI control panel.

Anyway, the game looks pretty good. The AI is better than most, but it's more or less a typicall shooter with a Sci-fi theme. The vehicles are fun, but you don't have a lot of wide open terrain to drive them in.

I wouldn't term it a must-buy, but it's a decent diversion thus far.

I'm playing Chrome as well and it has some cool stuff. The worlds are beautiful on it, lush and green, and there's some pretty cool vehicles. Otherwise, it's a typical FPS, but with a few twists, like implants that help you do some things.

I'm not really worried about Opflash2 yet at this point. There are so many cool addons and mods out already for this game, and with scripting, the missions type posibilities are endless.

I've been playing MP ever since the US version came out and nothing else I've tried can replace its realism. BF1942 was ok, but once you've played on such huge islands as there are in opflash, those BF1942 islands are pretty tiny.

Even with all of the great features the first one has, there are plenty of improvements I'm hoping for in OFP2. Too bad M$is the reason for the delay.

Driveable vehicles, w00t!

I've been doing this in Operation Flashpoint for the past couple of years, and it just isn't the same in some of these other FPS's where you're closed off in a closet-like space with only your feet to carry you.

I think the Stalker trailer was pretty damned cool looking. If this is pre-alpha, then I think the final product has a chance to look and play really well.

Say isn't giving the finger originally an american gesture? Then that means...

No, it's French Canadian. We're in big trouble.

Dying in 3's:
Maynard Jackson
Lester Maddox
Strom Thurmond

3 major southern politicians who died within a less than 2-day span. Too bad politicians don't die in dozens instead of just 3's. Bastards.

I still think the French are getting what they deserve for being French and all that...or Canadian as well. Everyone knows that the French and Canadian are from France and Canada.

Peace Activist Etiquette

With all of this talk of impending war, many of us will encounter "Peace
Activists" who will try and convince us that we must refrain from retaliating
against the ones who terrorized us all on September 11, 2001, and those who
support terror.

These activists may be alone or in a gathering.....most of us don't know
how to react to them. When you come upon one of these people, or one of their
rallies, here are the proper rules of etiquette:

1. Listen politely while this person explains their views. Strike up a
conversation if necessary and look very interested in their ideas. They will
tell you how revenge is immoral, and that by attacking the people who did
this to us, we will only bring on more violence. They will probably use many
arguments, ranging from political to religious to humanitarian.

2. In the middle of their remarks, without any warning, punch them in the
nose.

3. When the person gets up off of the ground, they will be very angry and
they may try to hit you, so be careful.

4. Very quickly and calmly remind the person that violence only brings about
more violence and remind them of their stand on this matter. Tell them if
they are really committed to a nonviolent approach to undeserved attacks,
they will turn the other cheek and negotiate a solution. Tell them they must
lead by example if they really believe what they are saying.

5. Most of them will think for a moment and then agree that you are correct.

6. As soon as they do that, hit them again. Only this time hit them much
harder. Square in the nose.

7. Repeat steps 2-5 until the desired results are obtained and the idiot
realizes how stupid of an argument he/she is making.

The interface on this game is just amazingly good, and about 1 billion times better than the old one.

It's intuitive and fast and easy to use. Instead of having to get in just the right molecular position for some actions to come up, you get in the general vicinity and press the spacebar (or whatever you have action bound to) and then you can scroll the action list with your scroll wheel on the mouse whilst holding space and then release when you have the command you want.

You can choose weapons by right-clicking and then scrolling through, or just use the numbers 1-7. Works great!

Nationalistic is hardly the term I'd use. More like Individualistic. Everything you described implies that those presidents did what was best for THEM not the nation. If they were so nationalistic, then I think there wouldn't be such hesitation at doing certain things.

I sincerely doubt that the elder Bush wants his son to succeed where he did not, and I'm sure Clinton doesn't either. Both would look like fools if the younger Bush suceeded where they did not, especially given his facade of a fool. Not only that, but I'd bet that you'll be hearing a lot of the elder Bush administration officials probably trying to stop any action on Iraq, or at least sounding caution, saying that there should be a coalition. I'm sure the Clinton ppl might be saying the same thing too.

The History channel is great! Just because I enjoy a bit of edumacation out of skrewl here and there is my choice. And, on occasion, I take some time to make a bit of history here and there, like digesting my food, for example.

Weas,

Colonialism in Africa, India, Pakistan etc. have made complete messes of that continent and those countries. Who did that?
Europe.
The USA used to be made up of several European colonies.
Australia wasn't much better off, being the repository of criminals.

I see the current world mess as the direct result of European warmongering, destruction, and of course EXTREME exploitation. Far worse than anything the US has done. The Spanish Conquistadores used to take tribal Indian leaders hostage and hold them for ransom for all of their gold. Once the gold was delivered, they'd murder them all and take the gold.

Sure, maybe Europe isn't doing that any more, but they're sure as hell living with the results of it, just like the US lives with the results of slavery and crimes against their Native Indians, whatever they call them now. Native Americans, I think.

It's time for the EU to recognize its damned culpability for this problem now instead of all of it being placed on the US. Hell, we can't blame the parents, so let's blame their kid!

BTW, I have compassion, but it only extends so far. If someone hates me because I drink Coke instead of Pepsi, or am Buddhist instead of Hindu, then screw em. Better them than me. Hey, really, I'm not Hypocritical, if they want to hate someone enough to kill them, then f*ck em! Waste em before they have a chance to waste you!

Also, all the baloney regarding leaders of countries having ANYTHING to do with how this stuff is handled, like all of these "Daddy" comments regarding the US President are pretty much F.O.S. Man if you can't think of something more creative to blame it on, start watching the fricking History channel or something!

With great sympathy and compassion,
me.
