Having said that, given my experience with the Shitbox 1, I am going back to being PC-only. Gonna sell my XBox once I am done with my finals and have some free time to trot down to the local EBGames.

In serious PC gaming a philosophical mind-set is essential because the answer as to whether a particular game will work is rarely yes or no.

Instead, more questions: Does the PC have an adequate graphics accelerator card? Are all the display drivers up to date? What about Direct X? RAM? Sound card?

I am waiting for Apple to introduce PowerPC G5 on to their topline notebook/Powerbook. Once that is possible, I am going to switch. PC desktop box will then be only used for gaming.

they certainly talked to AMD about using thier chips in the first X-box, but rejected them as running too hot (despite better performance-per-cost).

They Hunger was good, but I actually had a lot more fun playing USS Darkstar. That one level where you got shrunk down to two inches high was a lot of fun and unique!

No offense to the 3DGamer crew and all the best to them. But I had moved on to other download sites (FileFront being my current number one choice) a long time agao.

Never could get connections, and when I did, they were really slow (yeah, my cable modem has spoiled me). Unless GheySpy moves to acquire other download sites, I am not that worried. On to FileFront I go!

But I love the HL2 gravity gun and bullet time; this expansion will have both.

Try this in HL2 -

phys_timescale can be used to slow down or speed up objects in the game;

phys_pushscale can exaggerate the force applied to objects;

and of course, these become even more fun (or just bizarre) with a lower value for sv_gravity

Don't confuse Dubai with Beirut. Dubai is one of the most modern cities out there, both socially and politically. You could liken it to Singapore. True, just like Singapore, it is a police state as well, and just like any place else in the world, there are good points and bad points. But in my 9 years of living there, I only saw one crime take place - that of attempted robbery.

Probably some silly sites that use ActiveX. That's really the only thing it could be, and Firefox has a plug-in to change that behaviour, I believe.

What plug in is that? I use Firefox at work and there are a couple of sites I need to go to at work that use Active X and am forced to switch to Exploder. Would love to dump IE completely.
