He's right. It was originaly said by LucasArts that "Obi-Wan"--another lame title out of LA--was going to be the sequal to Jedi Knight. But then they ended up cutting a deal with Raven to make a REAL sequal and not same lame 3rd person platformer to a title that won game of the year by PC Gamer. Which is a smart move from LA--having other people make GOOD StarWars games for you because they obviously can't anymore).

I'm sorry but there is NO WAY IN HELL that this statement is true. In case you didn't notice they are now GIVING Duke 3D away! It was on a PC Gamer CD a while back... No fucking way did they make 7-figure sales on a game released in 1996/97... I'm sorry, I like Duke3D but it is not making them that much money to this day. Or those are some SERIOUS royalties... yea right.

I don't understand #9's comment to #6. I think he did obviously play the original Wolfenstein. I sure don't remember any zombies, but I do remember lots and lots of Nazis.

Not to get on your case, but I just wanted to point out that Wolf3D AND SoD had zombies in it. I recall the zombies with machine guns imbedded in thier chests... I hated them.

What I really didn't like was how I could shoot a zombie 15 times and he wouldn't stagger... Or how I could shoot a Nazi directly--IN THE HEAD--and he wouldn't flinch. THAT... was annoying. Bleh... It wasn't as good as NOLF... or SoF, Elite Force--heh, Serious Sam.

It had some highlights, but when I finished it clocking in at 6.5 hours. I was saddened. Maybe I'm not giving it enough credit, but would have opted for a 2 disc game... 1 for SP & another for MP. Maybe then it would be worth full price. I'll take a 20 dollar game (Serious Sam:SE) over this baby anyday. But then again... I'm not playing MP. Well, that's just my opinion, not counting MP.

id can take their triple-priced/half-the-fun game and go worship some more devils. Croteam rocks!

Damn, I love this game. Makes me smile with wicked glee! She's perdy and she's cheap, something you can't beat! The new weapons rock (but the chainsaw sounds weak), the new enemies are fantastic and the new one liners are SO much better! I'm looking forward to some serious co-op on this bitch.

Don't you remember those AWFUL CRASH memory dump screens, when columns and rows were messed up? Huge characters, try to start the game again, it crashes again, and again, and again, until you restart?

Holy shit, I remember that.

I dubbed it "BIG DOS" and it wouldn't do crap--had to Ctrl, Alt, Delete the 486. I always got that when I screwed up my sectors in my WADs. -laugh- ah, the memories.

...not even the 200 clones.

I think I'll drop my thanks for this game as well. As a matter of fact I recently bought a 20 dollar computer: P166, 32MBs RAM, 1GB HD, something-er-other CD-ROM, & S3 Trio64 w/ 2 whole megs of RAM--woo! Just for all the old DOS games that won't run on my big rig. And I am proud to say that the first game I installed was none other than Ultimate Doom, followed by Doom 2 & the best damn game ever made that didn't have a shotgun, Star Control 2.

To this day I still play Doom. Thanks Id! And a big thanks to the makers of J-Doom & Doom Legacy for upgrading this beloved game. PEACE.

Forgive me, but it's my paranoia kicking in. Eh. Anywho.

Back to DNF: Why do I see so many bitter people out there and so much negativity and hostile attitudes twoard developers that push something back? I mean this is the game industry, this happens _ALL_ the time! Every time I see a release date I take it with a grain of salt because it almost always gets pushed back. But I can certainly see "Oops, well maybe NEXT year!", for 4 years would piss someone off. We can joke about it, count how many times Daikatana was at E3 and ignore the fact that Half-Life 2 may very well be in developement for over 2 years now. I'm merely using them as examples in what shouldn't be done and what should be done.

As far as releasing info on games before they are finished I'll give out 2 examples; Star Wars Galaxies = bad move, this game has SO much to undergo before its even playable!Half-Life 2 = good move, I mean let's be honest, they would be fools not to develope this. Why do you think they are so quiet, just for TF2?! A sequal to a Mod that has been surpassed? I doubt that.

It almost seems that if a developer or publisher starts bragging about their game while still in developement that they are digging their own grave at the same time. Now this isn't always the case mind you, but I'd rather see annoucements for games that have roughly 6 months to go in the developement cycle. That way gamers won't forget about your game if you say nothing and also so that you won't turn the eager gamers into bitter ones...

No one will ever forget Romero's "Make you his bitch" Ad. How horrible is that? 'Our game will kick your ass!', it sounded bad from the get go. I still have an add for Diablo 2 that says Winter 1999 for chrissake. And you don't hear everyone complaining now, do you? That's because despite what your opinion might be, I enjoyed the game--I don't play it now--and so did MANY others, DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE ENGINE IS FOUR YEARS OLD.

This being my other point, just because the engine is dated doesn't mean the game is shit. People are STILL playing Doom over the internet and that was released in 1993. It boggles my mind when someone says, "oooh, the game is lame, the graphics suck!", when they HAVEN'T EVEN PLAYED IT YET. Shit, I still play Tetris.
