I'm going to have to agree with both of you on this one... Although, from what I've read so far they are making a vast improvement over the first and I already loved that one. I have a feeling it will be what Thief 2 was to Thief... Much as Deus Ex 2 will be to Deus Ex, but then again, Hitman is more of a nich game than even those two are...

I hope this takes off. But I really would prefere just releasing games on DVD now... I'm sick to bloody death of all the extra crap I get sometimes... Mind you they aren't moving to DVD cases, just smaller boxes. So for all those naysayers that want the cloth map, text book manual, keyboard layout, etc... They can still include those as long as they aren't thicker than 1'' including the cardboard on the outside and jewel case.

On 2nd thought, you don't see EA publishing any RPGs do ya? But they do handle Janes, etc...

None the less, it works for me, never thought I'd say this, but good move EA...

And I always thought the limeys were ahead of us yanks sometimes.

agreed--but...!

i'm speaking about the recent games, oh say... last 4 years or so, note i said last good games from them, not the entire catalog... although, Tie Fighter = PURE fun, greatest space sim for its time--but my point merely is that they haven't made an outstanding game in years... it's kinda sad really, at one point they were one my favorite developers...

Sam & Max?! Comic Genius and gaming wrapped up into one hilarious package! Ah, LA's good ole days... -sigh-

Hmmm, lets see last good Lucas Arts games... Jedi Knight, Grim Fandango, the Monkey Island series, uhm... Super Star Wars on the SNES. Hehe. Oh, and I think they also made the greatest Adventure game of all time, Day of the Tentical (eg; Maniac Mansion 2). They should stick to what they are good at or just publish games--oh, wait.

didn't Warren Spector do some of the Wing Commanders?

Yea, he did some work for Origin a while back. WC2 I think it was, as well as Ultima Underworld, which is IMHO the best direction the series ever took. Which leads up to the same engine that System Shock used as well as Terra Nova.

Also, if any of you are aching for some Deus Ex goodness, play System Shock 2. Warren did the first and SS2 is just oozing with stylings that Deus Ex picked up on.

PEACE.

Fools. I loved the shit out of the first one and I have a feeling the 2nd one will be just as fun if not better. And if you haven't played NOLF yet, you don't know what you are misssing.

Better than Half-Life... Won't take my word for it? Read these...

You know, there were more Ultimas, more Final Fantasys, not as many Kings Quests, and just as many Wizardrys as this series... It's just funny how RPG's (mind you, KQ not being one) can just keep dragging out the series... Some are htis some are misses. Well, here's to a new engine for them and let's see if they can stand up to the lastest wizardry incarnation. I look at it like this, unless it is the original developer or if it is going to be nothing new. Just make the same type of game under a different title, then they will not seem so dragged out...

It looks to me like I'll have a new game to play on the LAN at work! Can't wait! And yes, those are some of the most satisfying & visceral weapon sounds I've heard in a LONG time.

"I found RTCW just the average FPS, nothing new."

"No offense, but quit bashing games for not having anything new and revolutionary."

He only said that he found it average and saw nothing to really be excited about... He didn't 'bash' it, as you said.

And I agree with him totally & you. I played it, was moderately fun, but nothing revolutionary.

From this I only see 2 games from one engine... U2 & UT2. Unreal Championship for Xbox is just a port of Unreal Tournament 2, it's UT2 for consoles with a new name.

Oh, and from the sounds of it UT2 & UC must have at once carried the "Unreal Warfare" name and it has been since changed. It's still only called the "Unreal Engine", albeit a heavily improved one.

But hey... that's just my opinion. Can't wait to play both.

I can honestly say that Raven has never let me down on anything they have made that I wanted to play. Elite Force was a pleasant surprise, I really didn't think I'd EVER play a Star Trek game. And I have complete faith in them for SoF2, JK2 & even more faith that they will pull of the much needed single player BACK into Quake 4 with sheer uncomprimised FUN.

PEACE.

I just wish the first one sold better... Fantastic game, had some excellent concepts and it was one of the 3rd person shooters where it REALLY made you think.

Can't wait.

Because Wendy's doesn't serve gays, and if they do, they want you to know that they don't support it. So Dave loves orphans, but hates gays.

Now you're being silly.

You know what I think is funny... In this world if you don't agree with someone, you can be a bigot & a racist. If you don't think homosexually is okay then you are a bad person. Or so people want you to think. Fuck that, I know my opinions.

I don't agree with homosexuality but the drummer in my band has dated another man before. I don't agree with his views but I still love the guy. To me its just about my moral upbringing... People are funny sometimes...

Anywho--regarding Dave, I'm going out for a frosty and all the Jr Bacon Cheesburgers I can stand! Woohoo!

(regarding MGS2)

This must be why it often been said the game of the year for 2001....

Now way, no how. I'm counting on GTA3, my friend. The only PS2 game that I've ever seen on Blue's logo... And yes I own both. MGS2 is no where near the scope of fun that GTA3 rivals... But you know, that's me. If you anyone hasn't played it. Do your self a huge favor and do so...

[end useless rant]

What a bunch of sick fucks at Raven... You have to love the primal instict to kill in FPSs--and these boys always take it one step further. Gotta love 'em... How disturbed it is.

I'll be playing that--oh yea.

I remember buying the "Deluxe Edition" of the Rise of the Triad Shareware/Demo years ago... I paid 10 bucks for the thing, but it was more than just a demo... All the levels on it weren't in the full version of the game--from what I could tell but I could be wrong--and it included plenty of multiplayer maps to keep my busy until I picked up ROTTCD. I just want to say that if a company was to release a demo now AND charge for it. THAT is the kind of demo they should release... Too bad no one does shareware anymore. It still is an excellent idea.

Heh, t'was a rad game too.
