So they went with the guy who Zeschuk and Muzyka hand picked to replace them. That's safe. Even with all the KOTOR baggage.

And it happened only two weeks before Brad's sexual harassment case goes to trial. What a coincidence.

Counting down until someone dissects it and finds at least one 'additional hidden feature' which does something questionable.

I want this to be a good thing, but given their track record, I just don't have any faith that Stardock has the ability to deliver something that I would enjoy playing even remotely as much as the original.

I wish I still had enough faith in his vision to want to contribute, but I feel like he lost his way after Ultima 7.

Lots of ideas with no restraint is a recipe for a Moleynoux-style train wreck. Add in an internet only, persistent world type environment and it interests me even less.

Without a Raph Koster type on board, I can't even justify forking over enough to reach even the lowest tier.

Oh geez. ANYBODY but Raph Koster.

The key word is 'type'. Someone with online experience who is willing to reign in RG when he starts trying to implement things which are not interesting, fun, or technologically feasible. Also, someone who has seen just how wrong things can go, with some capacity to actually learn from the mistakes. Not Raph himself.

"Nobody can work from home right now, come into the office" means one thing, and one thing only in corporate speak. "We need to lay a bunch of you off, and we don't think you respect us enough to actually come and voluntarily turn in all the stuff of ours that you currently have in your home office."

I'd support the project if I found it interesting in any way. It just looks like more of the same, which is why I kind of stopped playing their products in the first place.

I don't want it at a discount, I wouldn't want it for free, and I wouldn't even install it on one of my machines if they gave me a rebate check which exceeded the original purchase price.

Patronage is not product placement. May as well be pissed at a hospital for being named after the biggest donor, or at a portrait for being of the wife of the person who commissioned it. Having some pixels named after a dude with more disposable income than me doesn't disrupt my engagement with the game world in the slightest. Because that dude wanted the game to exist just as much as I did, but had more resources to help make that happen. He isn't trying to sell me something. Gamers aren't outraged because we know the difference.

I'm amazed the company even feels that there is anything left to be gained from trying to continue this franchise. I liked the first game because Brent Knowles was a talented lead designer. The lead designer for the second game was Mike Laidlaw. Given the state of the product he delivered, I have no faith in his ability, and certainly don't intend to invest in a third product. At this point, I feel like they owe ME $60.

Right Herve, because you did such a bang up job with that Fallout IP. BG, IWD and PT are out because I doubt you can afford get a license from Infogrames/Atari for AD&D. What does that leave? Stonekeep, that pile of crap Lionheart? This just looks like investor bait so he can churn out some shovelware based prior art.

It was a sequel that nobody was asking for with a story that had the original creator had no hand in, that arrived five years after everyone had forgotten about the original series outside of a horrible movie adaptation. Pity is, the game is actually worth playing. But it didn't need to be a Max Payne game, and the fact that it is may be what is hurting it in sales.

Of course, the company will just wind up blaming piracy.

Why does EA find it so hard to believe that a buggy console port which contained less than eight hours worth of gameplay and one-note multiplayer that got boring after 5 rounds didn't garner many sales at their $60 dollar price point? The game was fun, but not $60 worth of fun. More like $15 worth of fun.
