3. Re: Sunday Mobilization Sep 13, 2015, 11:35 Paranoid Jack

The two US Telco/Entertainment companies with wireless options want us all to go non-regulated or move onto their cellular and/or IP based options but they prevent that as a viable option by imposing stupid low data caps and slowing us down once we hit certain thresholds. If they could throttle their own greed they could truly change the way this country uses our current and future mobile devices.

4G has crazy fast speeds compared to the average current wired broadband speeds. Yet, you can only get those speeds on your mobile devices when you are in certain areas. Most of which are located in or very near a large metropolis.

I know government intervention is not the answer but what if they imposed a regulation that you can not move onto the next technology until you have upgrade your entire network, all of your user base, to the current technology? There are still old towers out there using Edge, 2G, and 3G. Most of which belong to Verizon. It does work better in mountainous regions but with the newer phones you can only just text with it since the coverage is so poor a call won't stay connected or is so garbled its a waste of time even trying to make it.

So yeah, what they claim is impressive but the other side of the coin is that their greed will stifle any true change within the current wireless climate.

IMO X-Com 2 will be worth $80. Of course I won't be paying that. Just hold out for a 30% off code at GMG. That is the only reason I have already bought Fallout 4. They sent me a code and I jumped on it.

Dark Souls III is currently my most anticipated game. I just hope it doesn't slip more than once. It being on time is still possible, though no firm date has been set, it has been in development along side Bloodborne while Dark Souls II was still in development.

I don't watch youtube game videos generally as a rule anyway because they are boring as fuck and I'd rather play a video game than watch someone play a video game.

So that being said, what's the appeal of PewDiePie?

He plays games and says things some people consider funny while he plays them.
If you need any other mysteries solved let me know, I'm pretty good at this I think.

    Made me laugh, thanks.

Then I read that little and I mean little article on Comcast. The last line had me busting up.

"Obviously it's too early for pricing details, but Comcast's 2 Gbps Gigabit Pro service is currently priced at $300 a month with $1000 in installation and activation fees."

With those speeds you can burn through your data cap real fast... then what... bend over and wait for it?

    2. Re: Company of Heroes: British Forces Released Sep 3, 2015, 15:23 Paranoid Jack

I need to try the campaigns. I haven't touch them yet. Last night I only had enough time to play one game of skirmish on a community map to get a feel for the new British Forces. I played against AI which was playing the German Oberkommando West. The British felt both over powered and/or weak at times. Which was good in a way. I went with Anvil and never used any trenches due to the map.

If you group your troops right they can decimate the German armor. So they may be fairly balanced with the other armies. The sniper has a perk that allows him to disable the tank guns forcing a retreat. It's a temp thing with a couple minute cool down which I'm not sure of but I assume can only hit one tank per activation.

I'd like to give this game a shot.. but MGS V is going to take all my time.. with Rocket League being my "quick fix" game in between.

I don't think this was a good timing release idea on the Mad Max teams part.

Well, MGS5 is a weird and special kind of newborn. I throw up in my mouth every time I just hear the title "metal gear solid", but watching the trailers of MGS5 I am thoroughly impressed. Never enough for a buy, though -- I am completely and utterly detached from the lore and story. It's a shame this isn't just a new IP.

The very reason I have never played a MGS game is the corny story with cheesy cut scenes. Though I must say most Japanese games turn me off with their stories/cut scene cheesiness. I am itching to give it a try though. Almost bought it last night. Glad, I have waited on both MGS5 and MM.

Thank you all for your view points. harlock, your insightful comments continue to inspire me, thanks. LoL, I will pick it up at some point just not sure when.

There would be a very thin layer of tactics possible if your party didn't rubber band to you whenever you exited the so called tactical overhead mode.

    Straight from the games manual.

    "Tactical Combat
The overhead view and automatic pausing in Tactical Combat mode is a natural fit for strategic
battling. Whenever you want to access Tactical Combat mode, just press .
With the action paused, move L to choose a new position and then press A to mark the spot
for your currently selected party member. You may also position the target over an enemy to
prepare an attack. Press  or m to switch party members and select their next moves in the
    same fell swoop.
When you’re ready to put your plans in motion, hold ^ to resume live action. If you spot
trouble, just release ^ to pause the action again and start strategizing. You can also press 
at any time to leave Tactical Combat mode and return to live-action combat."

I never got over the tactical combat which was promised that was never really there. So I have yet to play the game more than a couple dozen hours. Forgive me for asking yet again. Has the tactical combat been fixed yet? I don't want to spend the time reinstalling just to be reminded that I was lied to and they have yet to make it a viable way of playing the game. DAI will be the last Bioware game that I will purchase day one. They have more than proven their willingness to stretch the facts while hyping their games. Burned me several times now.

News Comments > XCOM 2 Delayed
    24. Re: XCOM 2 Delayed Aug 30, 2015, 13:42 Paranoid Jack

I loved X-Com EU and EW. My only complaints were gameplay issues that occasionally happened. Several issues really lowered the enjoyment of the game at times. They also caused me to save scum on numerous occasions while not playing Iron Man. While on Iron Man they caused me to rage quite the game several times. LoL

The game seems to cheat at times. What I mean by that is the odds are stacked in the aliens favor and the to hit percentages are off. The aliens chance to hit being less than twenty yet they somehow can shoot better/hit more often/at a farther range with a pistol than my snipers can manage with their perks, a scope, and the higher ground. On a side note this is even worse with the Long War mod. I would say fifty percent of the time my snipers can't see or target aliens even with squad site perk. I stopped using them as snipers and gave them all marksmen rifles and they advance with the rest of the crew.

The worst gripe I have would have to be the way over watch gets triggered and plays out. Hate seeing trooper after trooper firing at a dead alien. Thank God they fixed that in X-Com 2. I noticed that was shown in all the demos. My guess they heard that complaint the most.

I'm slightly disappointed for the delay but glad they are taking their time to polish. Slightly worried because early 2016 is the target for Dark Souls 3. But as someone else pointed out delays are part of the industry. Dark Souls 3 will most likely be delay at least once. If not I will switch between the two games as needed.

Hopefully Sony & M$ will both go after them for damages? Probably not. More likely governments all over the planet are offering them higher education, money, and jobs to join their agencies... with the end goal of offering them a chance to commit crimes with no more worries about legality.

How is asking for more and better being self-entitled? That's all there is in this world. That's a phrase that gets thrown around way too often and for the wrong reasons. Oh there are cases where it applies but this isn't one of them.

Yes. Entitlement is only if you are asking for something for free. With a commericial product it is called customer feedback, not entitlement.

And S.S. isn't entitlement we pay into that, as a lot of other things.

Welfare... now we are getting into entitlement areas.

By the old definition, "the right to guaranteed benefits under a government program, as Social Security or unemployment compensation". Yes, we pay into those program. Well, most of us. When I say this is the Age of Entitlement I mean all those people who are not entitled but feel that they are. Like those people that would rather live off the system then work. Not those of us who actually pay into the system and pay taxes our entire lives. We are entitled because we supported those systems.

I won't even touch on the way those entitlements have become another form of welfare here is the US for those who have never put a dime into the system. Those that come here from other countries to retire collecting the maximum amount of SS because they got three relatives to sign a piece of paper stating they made top dollar someplace else. Let us leave that one alone.

I don't really care to go into all the reasons why people do what they do. Why they feel what they feel. Unless I know them personally I don't really care. Call me callus but life has made me this way. In todays society so many people's sense of entitlement encompasses far more than just their welfare and other aid the government gives them. A majority feel everything is an entitlement. When I am called out on a service call to repair something they own and they feel I should do that at no cost when I have zero obligation to do that yet they still expect it. They get offended when I quote them fees and advise them of charges. Isn't that a form of entitlement? Although a false one. I experience this numerous times a week. Sometimes several times a day. There is a deep rooted problem there. Anyway, in my original post I was loosely relating this. Gamers demanding it all and cheap compared to a large portion of our society expecting everything for free because they have the nerve to expect that.

So when people think they are owed a certain type of game, a game that they want... even if it is not the game the majority wants or that the developer themselves even want to make... well, they are showing signs of entitlement. Maybe it is entitlement in a broader sense but to me it is still entitlement.

Seems you are reinforcing my statement a bit. You don't think they did enough with Original Sin? You want more than what they are promising with Original Sin II?

I agree we should ask for more or the best out of everything in life. But we seem to beat up developers over it while we give so many others a pass. (Look at our current political Administration and the several before it.) I am simply saying that Original Sin was/is far above average. Demanding more from them starts to cross over that line. Especially when you could have purchase it at such a low cost during the kickstarter and after it's retail release. It's like asking for AAA quality from an indie studio releasing a $15 game. D:OS wasn't much more than that and has been cheaper than that while on sale. In my eyes it's equivalent to buying a candy bar and expecting a steak dinner. It's just not being reasonable... not that people will ever become reasonable.
