I wonder what their database model looks like. Maybe they are so incompetent that changing a text field really messes up the applications built upon the database. That would be astonishingly bad design.

Matchmaking is fubar, but that's first day of open beta (at least in EU)

I've always been a huge BF fan but BF1 didn't capture me and I'm not feeling BFV either. PUBG has changed my preferences. It's not about the constant in-your-face action. It's the anticipation and tense feeling of PUBG which I crave now.

Also I am a vehicle player and it is too difficult to get a tank now.

PUBG are communicating, they are commited to fixing the game AND adding content. I don't know what more people want.

They are going to go to Obsidian, get a tour, get some swag and talk to some devs. They are going to be stoked and then go home with their computer, and they are going to have a story to tell their friends.

I've seen nvidia do this too when they have had problems reproing an issue.

They're already including lootboxes in it, after explicitly saying "no loot boxes" .. but they're called Airlifts now. Big difference right? Assholes.

They are just cosmetics? Why is the internet so worked up about this?
Dunno, they have repeatedly said no lootboxes but that there will be microtransactions for cosmetics.

Hey if you people want to play female bionic commandos wearing Celtic woad warpaint in a game set in WW2, fill your boots. I'm not buying it and I said why. Instead of just letting my comment sit, you felt a need to ridicule me for it. Stay classy.

@Bludd, good points, you should post more often.

@Cake, a shame you'll miss out. What will you play instead? Something like Rising Storm 2: Vietnam?
No, I told ya. He'll be playing Chess, probably game 6 of Bobby Fisher vs. Boris Spassky world championship match in 1972. I hope he'll play white because he'll lose otherwise.

@jdreyer, thank you for the compliment

Because personal attacks make you look smart, am I right? But you know, I don't need to stoop to your level mate and I won't because I'm a better person than that. I think instead of playing "chess" and spending money on EA's latest spew I'll play classics like Bad Company 2, one of the last good games EA made, or indie titles from studios that actually try to make a quality product.
We haven't attacked your person, we haven't called you names. We've pointed out that your mantra of historical accuracy is not sustainable and is not a legitimate reason for discounting BFV.

Btw, Bad Company 2 is not historically accurate either.

If it was claiming to be 100% historically accurate, I would care... but it's not. Just looking at the trailer's thumbnail you can tell it's not taking itself seriously.

There are hardcore realism games like Squad, Post Scriptum and ARMA, and then there's Battlefield and Call of Duty, which pander to sales. Appreciation for historically accurate games has gone down the drain, because there's so little to work with (from our perspective at least - how many times do we have to take back France from the Nazis?!).

It's not a political statement, it's a game about shooting other people and having fun. With WW2 weapons. There are many things to be concerned about in today's world and this game is not one of them, lol.

DICE isn't using the term "Historically accurate" as far as I know, but they do keep saying "Authentic WWII experience" they just need to replace "Authentic" with "Fantastical".

It wouldn't do much to pleasing those wanting something "authentic" but at least it would be more true to what the game is. Complete fantasy.
But this rabbit hole is bottomless. You can say that even games striving for realism and accuracy are fantasies because they depict events that haven't happened; even Squad, for instance, has reviving and respawning and the scenarios you play aren't historical reenactments. ARMA 3 is about a made-up future conflict.

Even documentaries or history books are curated because 1) there is never absolute information certainty about even events that are in the information age and 2) day-to-day minutiae even of the most thrilling historical events are bound to be boring.

It's all about storytelling. An authentic experience can be historically inaccurate and not suffer for it at all.

I had to talk to my nephews and my sister about Fortnite since they were starting to spend all their allowances on VBucks. She put a stop to it. Good on Epic for making a hit but it's turning really young kids (under 10) into microtransaction junkies.

As for BF5, nope, nope and nope. Not interested in another WW2 shooter that panders to SJWs. I'm a liberal but I like my games to be historically accurate.
Yes I also remember reading in history books about the great turtle uprising in which two humble italian plumbers fought to save the world and a princess.

If you can't play historically inaccurate games, there are not many options for you. Maybe Chess, but you would have to play a game which has been played before, because you know, HISTORICAL ACCURACY
