Indeed Riley Pizt, same with Ninty & Sony and their respective platforms... although to me there is something a little more sinister on the software side with a publisher owning a middleware vendor.

As far as support goes, as is, RW already have probably one of the best teams out there for delivering support (several projects I have worked with have used RW and the after-sales service 'n' support was superb) so it would be a shame to see that die (if it does).

On the product front I'm interested to see if the next GTA (after SA) uses RW or if it moves away in favour of something else.... the biggest problem RW ever had (apart from *urgh* PC tech) is that half the games out there that use RW don't seem to be too keen to tell the gamer that they use the tech (or don't seem to think its important to disclose) i.e. Pro Evo Soccer and many more.

Morrowind used the GameBryo engine (used to be called NDL) same tech as the upcoming H.P Lovecraft game Call of Cthulhu

edit: didn't spell that stupid last word right

@ 2 Nah, if you have the cash and you know you need their tools then I'm sure you could make sure they don't see anything that you didn't want to.

However, there is potential that through implementing certain features of your game you'd need to use support and potentially give away crucial details of how systems / an intended feature set is going to work.

Of course its all paranoia on my part, but its a definate thought that goes through many developers minds when picking middleware. There is a real conflict of interest for the middleware vendor selling to third parties when their owner, in this case the worlds largest publisher owns them and uses the same tech.

Naturally when you license / evaluate technology you sign a mutual NDA that is supposed to offer protection of both the vendors interests and the clients IP but after 9+ years in the industry, I've yet to find an NDA worth the toilet paper it was written on...especially when the industry is small enough for a lot of developers to know each other and have a good idea whats being developed.

FWIW - one good point in all of this is if you were a developer trying to get in with EA, then what better way than to use their tech and do something great with it.

edit: added something positive instead of more paranoia, kinda

Will be interesting to see how popular Renderware stays when developers approach them with new IP that they need the RW tech for...I would certainly be a little wary showing a company with ties to EA something *hot* (especially if I was signed with another publisher)

349 where ebob9 ? The N-Gage QD is about 130gbp in the UK without a contract. Makes a refreshing change to see another country getting shafted on hardware pricing for a change

Whilst the range of ngage official games is a bit pants at the moment you can use it for running lots of other java games that are out there (of which doom is pretty cool conversion)

So any more captions for the tee's then ? (if we're gonna do it, we should at least do it right)

How about:

"My other T-Shirt is a bogus degree"

"If you think my last game is ugly, you should see my new one"

"I'm standing next to stupid" (with the arrow pointing upwards)

Oh how I laughed like a little girl...

There is NO other explanation as to why it would delete it on some people's machines and not on others. So, if anyone wants to investigate it, I'm more than willing to hear it.

Of course it couldn't be a bug could it Derek ? Oh no silly me, the Supreme Commander wouldn't ship a game like that would you...perish the thought.

Again, no word of a publisher. Maybe for once those pea brained marketeers have actually seen some sense and not signed this worthless p.o.s

I'd love to see Novalogic take this a step further and make a persistant MMOG of modern combat

Same here, would like to see Planetside done proper Having a total blast playing this game.

Thought the demo was pretty cool and quite liked the multiplayer demo games I've been playing online, really liked the drop-in mode. Interested to see how the co-op side pans out...

The demos were pretty cool and I thought the control system was pretty intuitive (felt a little like Homeworld). Worth checking out the demos...

Shellshock has just been delayed until September according to www.eurogamer.net because Eidos believes that this time of year is slack for sales (as Hitman 3 didn't do so well) and they reckon that even though the game has gone gold and review copies have gone out its worth holding back.

The buggers.

With the huge number of alternate MP3 / hi-storage devices out there its a wonder anyone bothers with the iPod anyway...especially in light of its crap battery life and the number of poor schleps who've been mugged for 'em

Yeah I played the first demo and had all manner of glitches (in all honesty partly due to my pants system at the time) but had hoped that it was going to be good upon release...

Hey ho, back to BF:V
