See. Doom III is such a resource hog that just to host articles about it all the websites need an upgrade

Let's start the timer and see how long it takes for enough signatures on the petition, let alone the game.

I can't believe it took you this long to get a messenger spam Blue.

I finally made the jump to 2K from win98 in the fall and I think I got my first message about 2 days later.

Hopefully that doesn't mean that some amazing streak of luck has just ended for you.

I'm sure we wouldn't consider yours T-shirt weather, but feel like you are in good company. The cold snap continues up north as well. Here in central Canada we are facing highs of -13F before the wind chill factor drops it by another 15.

Fun!

WTF?

I thought this was supposed to be a January release.

I need a decent single player game. Of course, I could commit the time to MOH:AA which I still never played.

Or I could just get heavy on BF1942 so I can actually fly one of those planes.

I agree about the "urgent" banner being annoying, but to me it is still second place to the now common "Your security could be violated. Somebody could be monitoring your activity" or something like that. I think the message is actually even more direct like "Your security has been violated. You are being watched".

This scares the sh*t out of my wife no matter how many times I tell her to ignore it. She actually just stops what she is doing and walks away from the computer.

Moonbender .. why not take a quick look at the troubleshooting section of the official forums. This is hardly a problem that just I am having. Otherwise I would not have posted like I did.

So, your impression could be quite wrong. My point was that using a common part, on a common OS, in the exact manner described by the author of the game should not cause crashes for such a wide range of users (take a look at the PC specs listed in the forums for the crashing bugs) in the mode preferred by that author.

As far as whether the game is in general full of bugs. I didn't say that. I have had no crashes in OpenGL. The crashes could be due to problems with Nvidia's drivers, but then Epic shouldn't recommend those drivers to us.

For what its worth, I am very impressed with the game and how well it plays on older systems like my brother's.

Normally I have not been the one in this situation, but considering the amount of crashes people are experiencing with the Demo, isn't it a bit premature to release this game?

I mean really, I am using a new 4200 Ti video card by Nvidia who placed an Ad screen on the game, using the drivers recommended by Epic, and yet the game still won't play for more than a few seconds in Direct3D, the graphics mode recommended by Epic.

I love OpenGL, and the game plays well in that renderer, but really, doesn't the D3D crashing justify holding out just a little longer when we have waited so long already?

How can nobody be talking about this comment?

Is John hinting at something he cannot talk about? I don't know how many of the people that read this site are old enough to have experienced the v2x000 series in their heyday, but if Renditions owners decided to re-enter the market with their brand, they too could really compete.

This could be really big news. It would finally make 3D cards just like the old 2D wars when there were more vendors than you could shake a stick at.

I suspect that the World Cup in North America is one of the most popular sports which is not talked about very much, if that makes sense. Here at my work I know many people who got up at the crack of dawn on Friday last week to catch the first match. None of us had spoken about 'soccer' previously.

Each year I get excited at World Cup time because when I go to a local sports bar for lunch and a dark creamy tapped beverage there is actually something to watch other than the Bahama workout.

As I noted to somebody else, it has the distinct benefit of providing something to watch in the middle of the night (between counter-strike matches) that is actually _Interesting_.

Not being experienced in these things, I was thinking bulk drugs would cost more since the chance of the dealer being caught with an amount that couldn't be considered 'personal consumption' would obviously go up.

I'm sorry, but it is really starting to bug me that the media is removing all references to the World Trade Center. Many of the ones I saw listed on Entertainment Tonight yesterday didn't even appear to involve terrorists.

The point is that we should not forget what happened. Taking away the images will not make it go away. I do agree that Hollywood should not make a movie out of it despite the amazing appeal events like the struggle on Flight 93. But removing all references to the buildings is like going into the houses of the families left behind and removing all pictures of the loved ones they lost. It is disrespectful and will not allow us to remember things as they were.
