no like i said i really hadnt planned on doing it - its just that this build has been running for so long now... seems like this is the longest ive ever waited to upgrade, actually.. there is just no compelling reason

didnt really see that coming honestly

Yeah I have a 2500K system that I built 5 years ago to the day last week. I had been completely happy with it until my issues this weekend. I almost always run the highest graphics without stuttering but when I was running Everspace a few days ago the frame rate dips got annoying enough that I turned them down from "epic" to "high". Couldn't really tell the difference. Game still looked spectacular at 1920 x 1200.

But now I've got to buy some hardware one way or another.

I have my 2500K superclocked, it is a 3.3 and with a water cooler it is reporting 5.9! I assume some degree of error, but have been super happy with it. I bought a MOBO that supports i7 so I could upgrade to that, I just don't have the funds planned to do so right now. I threw a 1070 GPU in and superclocked that as well. I don't have any issues with any games.

Awesome that PUBG is still #1 week after week. Crazy. Really hope they work on server stability and latency.

Watched some friday the 13th streams - seems really boring and not much of a game for $40.

Summer hasn't started, summer is already here. 106F with the heat index today. 107 or 108 tomorrow.
Woof! Southwest I assume? Midwest is definitely warming up, breaking 80 today but dipping back down after today.

Yea almost 80 in Mpls. Boy and I took the dog to the dog park and it got pretty warm. We had to seek some shade while we were there. We jumped in the pool when we got home.

Why do all these space games have to be "Roguelikes"? People would argue that it's a "RogueLITE" but whatever - either way I'm not that fond of them. I also have read a lot of criticisms saying that a lot of the progress you make is lost when you die. Sounds a lot like wasting time to me. Can anyone who has played it expound on this?

Not sure if MrGrosser will post, but he and his wife were over for dinner and I asked him about the game. He described it as "if FTL did this type of game". Have not played it myself, but maybe a lot of management is involved?

Hm the lag seems to be door related

Everything server side including doors is affected by the server performance, which is their top priority issue for June's monthly update.

Solo unplayable
Duo is ok, but firefights are terrible
Groups seems to be best performance

Just odd.

did anyone ever come up with some mods to really flesh out the settlement mechanic? like roving invaders, etc.

seems like it might be possible to do a kind of FPS 4X or something if you fleshed out enough of those mechanics... faction wars, allied armies, diplomacy, resource harvesting and territory acquisition/defense, etc.

My world is pretty funny. I have caravan routes to and from damn near EVERYTHING that allows it. hehehehe

Played a few hours of the update. They really need to stop working on content and put all efforts into server stability.

Game is not playable in it's current state.

Patch Notes here

An odd one:
Reduced the moving speed of the two final play zones for better engagement during the endgame

? Other than a few of us, everyone just lays down and doesn't move.....

Kind of weird. I was a GWENT tester and early adopter - but if you are involved in the Witcher lore, wouldn't you already own all of that? I am pretty sure it was FREE from GOG or a buck or something elsewhere.....

I will also give my key away if possible.

Isn't bad for EA. 100 players in a very VERY large world. I do notice that things don't spawn until you get close to them. I often can tell if someone has been to a town if a vehicle is near by as it will pop or spawn as you get closer. So I am not sure if the RNG spawn of weapons, etc is as you get close or at the start of the map? Each round has a serial number on the bottom of the screen - so hard to tell what their methodology is.

I do find the best performance is very early morning for NA servers.

I would really like them to focus on server side fixes with lag and latency - as the game doesn't really matter until they figure that out. Put in all the cool stuff you want, if there is constant lag issues people will stop playing.

Also please put smoke server side, not client side. Smoke doesn't work. If you throw it you will see it. If someone else throws it, there is a chance you won't see it. So something you are using as a tool only becomes a hindrance for the thrower.

I do applaud them, they are doing a very good job. Would like them to focus in on connectivity. (lets start with ping lock)

Really want to learn? Put in 20 hours, then go watch Twitch gamers like JoshOG, Grimmmz, Anthony_Kongphan, and IAMChappie. They will show you the ropes pretty quick. I think Grimmmz is the best at telling you what he is doing and thinking as he plays. Don't get it twisted though, the sniper shots they make are sick - with the latency I can't connect at more than 400m.

I'll check out the other two games you mentioned (I've actually never heard of them), but you totally lost me here, haha. CS may not have changed, but I have. A game that takes 20 hours, followed by hours of watching Twitch players, is something I have no interest in. The odds of me playing 20 hours of whatever game I buy, in total, seems slim. These days I play whatever I can do in a 10 minute to 60 minute burst. Long play sessions aren't something I'm really down for, particularly multiplayer. And the only thing I can see myself putting triple digit hours into is basically strategy games like FTL or a tower-defense cell game. The Witcher 3 was a definite exception to that, but I've put off so many similar games. Haven't yet down Fallout 4, and doubt I ever will.

Then dont bother with PUBG. Try One of the other 2.

Good post MB.

I would say, when you first start out, drop with a LOT of people. Learn to move around, die a ton, but you also learn from what THEY do. You will also get in firefights early and often so you can get the feel of the game.

Had a win this am. 8 kills in solo. Had UMP and m416 both fully modded out and silenced. Was a rush as always. Killed last 2 of 3 snipers. I got the luck of the final circle, dude had to come to me and leave cover.

With the Quake Live beta offline during the week, I'm craving some FPS killing.

Did some looking yesterday - very much regretting not getting Dishonored 2 for $17 last weekend. I can get CS:Go for $6.47, and feel like that may give me my fix, but also may be cheaters and people significantly better than me (haven't played CS of any form in over a decade.) Overwatch seems possibly, but again, people have spent a year mastering it and the community is probably die-hards at this point. Prey... I'd rather spend around $30 total.

So then there's PUBG. Checked out a Let's Play yesterday. Not sure it's the type of game I'd enjoy (I did about 5 minutes of DayZ and hated it.) Doesn't look great solo. Controls look iffy. There's a lot of waiting, only to get shot in the back by someone you never see. And I couldn't tell if you can actually distinguish between what different items do. Seemed like a game I may like running around like a maniac with dumb bots, but with actual people, sitting around and waiting just doesn't seem my speed.

I should probably go CS, but if anyone has any recommendations for something I can shoot a lot in.

My vote is PUBG, but if you want more action, why not something like Day of Infamy or Insurgency? Both have bots and can also be played Co-op as well as PvP. They are a hell of a lot of fun.

CS is just CS. Nothing new, but sometimes I fire it up to scratch the itch.

/Side note: Big update on Thursday for PUBG, is said to bring optimization and a new weapon.

Yea it is well deserved. Even as an EA title it is really good. The server connections and lag are upsetting at times, but DUO and GROUPS games don't seem to suffer like SOLO does. The game is a blast. New map coming in a few months.
