I agree, asrof, the MMORPG market is certainly a confusing one. So much of what people pay for seems so unappealing to me.
That said, DDO needed solo play from the beginning. The greatest part of many D&D classes is their ability to solo if played intelligently
and that aspect of the game was totally missing. I remember creating my soloing thief hybrids in BG 2 and enjoying the challenge immensly. Yes, there were parts of the game I didn't dare take on, but it was beatable and for once I felt I'd accomplished something when I finally defeated Irenicus.
The whole game is just too dumbed down, though. Too many classes have normally useful abilities that are totally useless in Turbines manifestation of the rules and as such soloing won't be nearly as interesting (IMHO). Maybe it was the lag, but the game just seemed like advanced combat tactics (usable in games like BG 2) were totally ineffective in DDO....
