Big hitter, the Lama.

So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-lagunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

Last and certainly least, public relations has too much power; publishers force journalists to cruise down optimism road until the game ships.

Publishers don't force anyone; game journalists are willing participants. If they don't like the way things are handled, then stop accepting free stuff!

Seems like we've had a ton of these "Why game journalism is in trouble" articles lately, yet how many of them keep accepting free review copies, swag, perks and other crap?

If people were really upset, they'd team up and try to change it. But the truth is, everyone loves the kickbacks their getting and they don't want to lose it.

I understand what the guy is saying but I think he fails to take into consideration two key points:

1) Tons of fans fake the credentials and make it in to E3, and

2) I would think there are more people traveling from all over to E3 than there are to PAX, gamescom, etc., thus your audience is larger.

You might notice a slight blurring effect in the Crackdown 2 screens. This is an effect that seems to be present any time the camera's moving. Don't worry, the game doesn't look blurry at all when you're actually playing.

I don't get what this means. The effect is there when the camera moves but not when you're playing? Isn't the camera moving while you're playing? And why would effect be in Crackdown 2 but not in the first title?

I really have to hand it to the PC community. They are always doing this type of thing with games. Whether its a bunch of friends doing it for fun; or a few people trying to build their resume for the future, it's always great to see this kind of loyalty.

Which is why it makes it that much harder to accept the attitude of many publishers nowadays towards the PC. Their biggest fault lies with the fact that they fail to understand what the PC community is about... and accept it.

With the PC community, of course you'll get piracy, but you'll also get these types of mods that prolong the life of your game, free publicity, a built-in talent pool to draw from, etc.

I understand how publishers want to go where the money is, but this out-and-out hostility towards the PC community really is uncalled for... and I think will do more harm to the publisher than to the PC gamers.

Where did you read that Activision won't finance Bungie's games? Just because you don't own a developer doesn't mean you don't finance them when you're publishing their games.

I thought if you were a dev that wasn't owned by a publisher, but were financed by them, you were a third-party developer. But if you finance your own games and just need a pub to publish them, then you're independent?

Bungie remains an independent company and will continue to own their intellectual property.

Is this deal more akin to what Valve did with EA?

I'm right there with you. The multiplayer Free Roam idea sounds awesome too, being able to form a posse and roam around the countryside.
