I think it would be more appropriate to use both gun and flashlight, each on one hand and both hands together (crossed iirc). Isnt that the way "cops" do?

At least in the movies...

Publishing deal only, thats ok.

But is it only for games produced by Scion Studios?

Or is it for all games produced by Epic from now on?

To the guy that said that if Blue had a paypal button up, he would create lots of paypal accounts so Blue could earn from referrals.

Well, i dont think thats possible. You need a credit card number for each account you create.

As for the ongoing ads discussion, put up a PAYPAL button already, and dont forget an AMAZON WISHLIST.

And i didnt even mention the supposed contract between Blue and UGO. Im pretty sure thats another stone blocking his way out. At least theoretically.

You dont get it do you.

Beeing part of a network like UGO means the advertisement deals they get, are shared with Blue.

If UGO cant get good enough ads do you think a person alone would achieve that?

So basically Blues income comes from the advertisements. Problem is, its not enough.

For us, with ads or no ads, its still free.

Exactly, thats an understatement.

What i really wanted by asking that question, Blue, was to make sure ppl realize what they're discussing in the first place, so they can later decide correctly wether to donate/contribute or not.

I assume that modifying the site to have two different versions for members and guests requires not only technical knowledge that you may not have but also (in case you hire a programmer) an investment risk, if the subscription model bombs.

My decision goes toward the donations because its the quick-no-hassle solution. Sure, its not perfect and its not going to work forever.

But for now, it may help you out. And besides, im sure that people willing to contribute thru a subscription model would also accept to pay thru Paypal if thats El President's choice.

PS - Dont forget the Amazon wishlist.

This is my feeling, exactly.

Also, i would like to see clarified the bandwidth issue. Isnt Blues News part of the UGO Network thus using their own bandwidth?

If that is true, Blue gets his bandwidth for free, right?

Now, besides that, i still think we should support Blue's work. So, we have some solutions:

1) more intrusive ads
2) subscription model with ad-free navigation for members that pay
3) paypal donations and less ads (just keep the basic banners)

I wont dwelve into those 3 possibilities because that has been done many times before.

I'll simply state that i would prefer #3 "donations and just basic banners".

Everyone seems willing to donate to make the take-over advertisement disappear but lets not forget that making such oferts thru a practically anonymous board is worthless. Im sure Blue himself has weighted that many times, he knows that once he puts the Paypal thingy, "theres no way back".

Blue linking to this silly "Vancouver 2010 Domain Names" auction.

You're actually advertising for him. For free.

Decent soundtrack?

You must be kidding me... did you listen to the latest Metallica albuns?

And yes, that includes St. Anger which imho isnt very good, for "old Metallica" standarts.

Sorry guys but i think the current HL2ish logo sucks.
I actually scrolled down to OOTB to talk about it.

It seems the author of the images wasnt very inspired with the latest batch-o-logos.

Imo, there could be many better ways to depict Half-Life 2 and the similirity of Gordon and Blue, all this without blurring the real Blues News title.
