Heh. This site is blocked by my school system's filter. Has been for awhile. Apparently for "violence" and "video games". CNN however seems to be fine...

If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?
I hope absolutely none of you who think this is poor taste have ever scoffed at the Heaven's Gate cult (hipocrisy, anyone?).

Well, if they put it in the same location as TR1, wouldn't it just be TR1 with prettier graphics?
I think it's best to get something new, rather than pull a Blue Shift on us.

This says it better than I could:
"Starting something is easy; it’s the fun part. Finishing a project that you’re completely sick of is the hard part. The last 10% of game development is the hardest...The best developers in this business know how to finish and ship. If you don’t have this ability then all of your skills are useless." -Cliff Bleszinski

and last time I checked, GOD games went out of business because they let retards like 3DRealms work on games with a stupid "when its done" tag.
No games = no money.

Actually, Hitman: Codename 47 was the first game (third person, too) to be released with the "sneak up and choke" method.

Wrong. I have seen boobies that look like that. Tis possible! May not be natural, but possible nonetheless
Not to mention it's a video game about professional grave robber. It's a game, and we know it's fake, why not make everything look better?

Of course. It's "cool" and "l33t" to insult Tomb Raider now.

Wow. You eat that marketing propaganda hook line and sinker. Do you even KNOW what they did for Max Payne?
Oh, and last I checked, 3DRealms's publisher went out of business, and got sold, because they've let them dick around for so long.

You're forgetting two other things: Max Payne went into development before GTA2, and it was developed in an entirely different country.

I can see the ad campaign now...
"Scott Miller's going to kick your ass!"

Developers who sit around patting themselves on the dick, will always fail.

Because "id" looks like a strange spelling error.

On another note, I'd like to speculate on the UT name change. Yearly releases are commonly reserved for sports titles. I'm thinking that they're trying to move into a sort of "video game sports" sort of thing, that many other developers have been trying to do. It probably has to do with the recent advent of tv shows where people compete in games like Tribes 2, UT, and Quake 3.
Maybe to more keep it under the Unreal setting, yet distance it from its single-player counterpart.

"It seems that they should focus on an "all we should be doing is making engines" model of business"

Epic DOES only make engines. That's why they contract independant developers like Legend and DE.

" the Unreal brand has taken all these embarassing twists, and turned into this fiasco of ridiculous names and more confusion."

A few magazines reported the wrong name of the newest build of the Unreal Engine, and Epic has said that they are simply THINKING of MAYBE changing the name of their games. That's hardly a fiasco. Don't blow things out of proportion.

That's what just about all games are when the liscense or developer is owned by the publisher. They have the final QA decisions.

Unreal Tournament was originally a spinoff of Unreal.
Unreal 2 is the UNREAL sequel. Unreal Tournament 2 is the SEQUAL of Unreal Tournament.
The Unreal Engine is still... wait for it... THE UNREAL ENGINE. There's not actually another name. It's just improved versions.

Yes. It was, UP UNTIL valve bought them. At that point, it was professionally redone, and people were paid wages to work on it in a 9-5 job.
None of these guys got paid, so it's illogical to think they'd have worked on it as much as CS was worked on. As soon as valve bought CS, CS became a job. Navy Seals has always been a hobby.
