I hate Tribes 2. Why? Because the community is much more immature then in Tribes 1.
That's true. But I think that the Tribes 1 community suddenly lost its maturity with the release of T2. All hope is lost.

The game was already a year late as it was. How much longer were they supposed to wait?
Let's see.. UNTIL IT'S ACTUALLY DONE?

This is very sad.
If anyone needs me, I'll be playing UT2003.
I didn't fall for Marweas's greedy marketing bullshit before, and I'm not falling for it now.

Blue.
Read... the... book.
For the love of god. You'll love it. Everyone should read it. (fight club was originally a book by the author Chuck Palahniuk)

Vocal hard core gamers insist they're easily able to distinguish between what's on the 17" monitor in front of them and the real world. (Of course, the rabid fanaticism of the majority of these gamers tends to overshadow any valid points they make.)
Remember kids: Chris Morris not only (thinks he) knows more about gaming than anyone ever born, he (thinks he) knows more about yourself than you do!

eeehehehehe. I loved Earthworm Jim.
Along with Sonic the Hedgehog, Reboot...
As far as I'm concerned, saturday mornings went to hell with the cancellation of Reboot from the ABC lineup.

Black Hawk Down had a lot of bloodshed and shooting and explosions, but what the hell was it all about? What was the point of all that violence? It was war-porn, all it did was make a self-important action movie about a real situation, violence with no moral and no point, just showing violence for its own sake.
Sorry to break it to you, but well, that's what war is.
It's a war movie. Did you expect a romance?

hm...
Mafia, drugs, violence... Sounds like new york.
The problem isn't that there is no good news we are seeing, just that the media doesn't report news from colombia unless it possibly affects its audience. The colombian drug trade affects america.

I've seen books, movies, all about the colombian mafia. And now a game focused on this...
They're also coming out with a game about the American mafia I don't think anyone is immune to the entertainment industry taking cues from reality.

PS: Colombia is a nice country, believe me, we have great people here.
Indeed. it looks very pretty.

I'm saying that the drug situation is the only aspect of Colombia that's ever shown in the mainstream media
That's because they don't have a whole lot else that affects the world. It's something that's newsworthy. If Colombia starts becoming the world leader in genetic research, then they'd start reporting on that.
Stupidity and ignorance are no reason to keep from making games.

I think white American males are portrayed in a wide variety of ways aside from as mass-murderers
Have you ever seen an FPS where you play a white male who solves things peacefully?

The fact is, that the columbian drug trade affects the world. It's an aspect of world politics that has been going on for much longer than some of our lifetimes. It's really moved past the stage of sensitivity.

All it seems to be is a tac ops game, like IGI or SoF, set in the Colombian drug trade.
I don't think that anyone would be getting worked up if the title didn't have "Shoot to Kill" on it.

fantasizing about blowing away evil drug-lords
I don't know about you, but Max Payne didn't make me fantasize about blowing away mafia goons.
Again, stupid people are no reason to dumb down games.

And what is so wrong with (North) Americans that they want to use so many drugs in the first place?
Correct me if i'm wrong, but this game doesn't seem to be about North America at all.
It seems to be about the illegal exportation of hard drugs. No, not simple pot. This is at the level where mafias and crime organizations are commonly involved.

use of revolutionary AI
If they come through with this alone, I'm buying the game. Good physics aren't anything new since there's already the Havoc engine out. But AI is something that has been mediocre and predictable in FPS's for far far far too long.

Can you imagine ANY Colombian national NOT being offended at this?
Yes. I can. Unless you're stereotyping Columbians and saying they're all uptight.

They're exploiting the desperate situation
Uh-huh... sure. And Ridley Scott was exploiting Somalia in Black Hawk Down, right?

I'm sorry, but not all world situations have to be treated with utmost honor by all people. Columbian drug lords aren't a current event either, by the way.
