As a Developer who used to work at a company that was recently destroyed by the fucktards at Vivendi I can honestly say that there is nothing more dangerous than a publisher with more money than sense.

These people are paying the rent, but they don't have the first fucking clue about games. Whilst that might be a boon if they'd just buy into talented teams and then sit back and sell what they produce, when they start sticking their oars in, it creates chaos and disaster.

How many times has the latest "uber-publisher" media company entered the industry with a flurry of new money, bought up half the available development studios and then scuppered them when they realise that they've spent a shitload of cash stupidly and won't be seeing a profit? Sure most of the talent stays in the industry, and certainly a fair amount of turnover is healthy - but this is ridiculous.

Well, the wild ride isn't over yet - I wonder who the next casualties will be?

Perhaps someone should do something about frivilous lawsuits promulgated by retarded ambulance chasers, since those seem to be doing more to promote violent death than video games?

:Cut to a small UK Developer:

"Woooooo! Look at that! Man, that's sooooo fucking cool! That kicks ASS! Can't WAIT to play it..."

First, last and always - we're GAMERS and then Developers.

It was nicely chaotic and intense. Can't understand why anyone would think it was boring - you were almost constantly under attack by enemies who popped into view, pulled back and kept the pressure up. It felt nice and realistic (without being OP Flashpoint realistic).

The flyover stuff was interesting, but I thought the top cover foliage was a little lo-tech. It looked serviceable but not outstanding. The Team AI didn't cause me too many problems - as a game it worked well for me. I didn't have any nasty framerate problems - perhaps because I didn't feel the need to dial everything up to max. Ran smoothly and quickly.

Yeah, I guess you have to be a real fucking loser to play this game. Still, if you take a look at the top ten selling list, you could at least take heart in the fact that there seem to be a whole fucking LOAD of losers in the world. And losers seem to actually buy games rather than Warezing them - so why not release more games tailored to them?

It's a fairly simple problem. EA gets money for you BUYING BF1942 and it gets money for you buying the expansions BUT it doesn't get money for you PLAYING BF1942 or the expansions OR any free/homebrew maps.

Therefore it is directly AGAINST the interests of EA to produce a level editor and free map packs. After all, the developers assigned to work on these projects aren't working for free, are they?

Now that you've bought BF1942, the release of expansions is the ONLY way that EA and DICE can continue to make money from their hard work.

Anyone playing a "full" version of the product is playing leaked code that is almost certainly not in a finished state.

Anyone playing the demo is obviously playing a cut down version that doesn't contain full functionality.

That said, it's entirely possible that what you see is all you get - in which case it's less I-War and more Hardwar. Still a good game tho...

There is no "Freedom of Speech" on privately owned Bulletin boards. In much the same way that you don't have the right to walk into my house and say whatever you want - you don't have the right to log onto Blues and say what you like.

Especially if what you like to say is moronic crap. IMHO.

Poor bastards are probably all out of a job now, so pardon me if I have slightly more sympathy with them than with your bug-eyed fanatacism about something you clearly don't know very much about.

Porn exploitative? Tell that to Jenna Jameson, she'll laugh your ass out of her office...

Personally, if it was handled with humour it might be quite amusing. Anybody remember that episode of the Simpsons where Bart visits the Playboy Mansion to visit Hugh Heffner?

More germane would be to question why they're releasing a demo for a product that's been out for so damn long. Anybody here who didn't buy it, intending to get it now? Who are they targetting?

As somebody else has already said there are negative stereotypes in the game for Germans, Italians, Americans, Japanese, Asians, Arabians and English people.

I don't think that the game linked Sikh's to international terrorism, just said that hypothetically there might be some terrorist organisations WITHIN Pakistan/India including one cult. It never even really said that the cult leader was evil, just that someone had paid to have him killed.

As for the use of a Gurdwara as a game level, well one of the game levels is a Catholic church, so how's THAT for equality? I never viewed the Sihk targets as being particularly more rewarding than the targets of other nationalities whilst playing the game, and I don't feel that the game has motivated me to hate Sikh's, or think of them in a derogatory fashion. The PETITION, on the other hand, makes me view them as intolerant fools with no sense of perspective, who take themselves far, far too seriously. Perhaps the petition should be banned?

So this guys motivations seem to have been:
1. Religious
2. Political

His "expertise" (making 100 yard shots through a 300 yard scope isn't exactly expert) comes from Military basic training and the gun he used is a legally acquired hunting weapon, like the aforementioned one you could buy at Walmart.

Games are so far down the list of what's fucking wrong with this world that it makes me weep to see them even connected with shit like this. How about the fact that a whack job like this could legally pick up and practice with the murder weapon in his backyard?

No offence here EE, I'm a Brit as well and I must admit that I'd support a more puerile news policy regarding Irish Terrorists. After all, they have no issue with being puerile to serve their own ends, do they?

My first instinct was to tell you to forget Morrowind and just get Neverwinter Nights. But then I saw you describe Everquest as fun so, if you find XP Grinding and Loot Farming fun, then you'll probably find Morrowind a diverse and rich experience.

Personally I think it's a shame that they forgot what was good about Daggerfall when they made it, but kept in the tedium.

There's nothing arguable about XCOM: Defender's cult status, it's one of the games, along with MOO2 and Civ that made Microprose great.

The sequels, of course, are an example of why that company is no longer with us...
