We also like Overload, but for some reason, fans want to start a war between us and them, and there is room enough for all Six Dof games.
My own comments here were based largely on reading the Steam comments, and actually having played the Overload demo. I haven't tried Underground yet, but that BrightLocker shit... I completely lost any interest in getting the demo and trying it for myself. I'm interested in the single-player game, not community interaction or bridging the connection between myself and the developer. I might give it a shot if it's offered on Steam in the future without the hoops, but, quite frankly, I detest developers who design around the premise that potential players are primarily open wallets.

The Syndicate game is a different beast than Underground since they took the name but made a completely different kind of game.

True. Just the first thing that came to mind when trying to think of another "shitty game with a great name". How about Thief 4, Duke Nukem Forever, and Dragon Age 2?

DOOM on ULTRA all the way and way beyond playable, my jaw was on the floor! I couldn't believe it.

Had a similar experience. I recently went from two 5870s in SLI (surprisingly good with even today's games) to a 1080. The 5870s ran everything I threw at them, but finally choked on Doom, but the 1080... incredible. Too bad the game is so boring. Looked gorgeous, but I just lost interest about what I reckon was a quarter of the way through.

I played the Overload teaser and dug it. I loved original Descent, and Overload definitely has the same feel. From the Steam comments, this seems like another Syndicate... another shitty game riding the name of a respected (beloved?) franchise.

I still love playing the old Doom-engine games. I normally use ZDoom, because Doomsday has issues on my computer displaying video at 144hz, but I reset to 60hz and use Doomsday to play the excellent Ancient Aliens, which ZDoom seems to have problems with.

Pretty sure most of those aspects of 'consolitis' were first seen in PC games... ; )
Since most of those are concessions for console controllers, gotta disagree. They aren't non-existent on PC, but they are most definitely and primarily attributes of console games and their ports. Regardless, a consolitis rant wasn't my intention (believe it or not).

I was commenting on Microsoft's duplicity in their public declaration of devotion to PC gaming. It reeks of horseshit. Guess I went off on a little tangent.

It’s all part of a “multi-pronged strategy,” according to director of Xbox marketing Kevin Unangst, to make their Windows 10/Xbox environment the best place to play games on PC.

Director of Xbox marketing... ok. The PC is already the best platform to play games. This sounds more like making the PC (well, Windows 10) a more Xbox-compatible platform for game development, and trying to assuage PC gamers by, yet again, dangling graphics features that do nothing to address the gameplay that makes console gaming so shit (and... it's the gameplay, stupid). Graphics are the first, and usually only, aspect that multi-platform developers champion to camouflage the fact that their console port is an inferior PC game. It's amazing to me, and frustrating, how many PC gamers will fawn over support for higher resolutions that take advantage of their $500 video card, but are just fine with the radial U/I, heavily-nested menus, do-everything "action" buttons, over-the-shoulder or third-person perspective, hide-n-heal, limited keyboard and/or mouse configurability, limited multiplayer compatibility, QTEs, endless, lengthy cutscenes, limited save system, and the convenient existence every ten feet of impenetrable, belly-high barricades, trashcans, crates, planters, abandoned cars, desks, and railings to which humans can attach like refrigerator magnets.

Blue, I marathoned "Ozark" this weekend. It's on Netflix. Loved it. Ten episodes, and with the ratings it's getting, little chance it won't get a second season.

https://www.netflix.com/title/80117552

EDIT: Ok, just watched 1st ep. of "Downward Dog". Loved the dog parts, but the human parts just seemed like something to get through to get to the clever dog commentary. I'll keep watching though. Martin's part are too good. Regarding Martin's perspective of how dogs and humans came together... I've always had the view that our ability to befriend and/or domesticate animals is greatly aided by having fingers that can deliver unique ear-scratching and belly-rubbing experiences. Imagine the first time a befriended wolf trusts you enough to allow you to pet it or rub it's belly... for the first time ever. Their wolf brain must freak out! "Ok, where has THIS been all my life?!"

I think the previous post about this a week ago mentioned it has classic mode which is 2d, but upped the resolution and the same levels as the original.

I believe classic mode is the Apple II version, or one of the other earlier releases (C-64?). LR:TLR was released for PC about 10 years later by Sierra. You can compare all the different versions here (more or less).

I'd much rather see "Lode Runner: The Legend Returns" updated for modern computers. Don't make it 3D or anything. Just up the resolution and make it run on a modern PC. That would definitely push my nostalgia auto-buy button.

I'd rather play Robotron 2084 on MAME. Still, Blue should change the title to reflect the actual game being reviewed.

"doesn’t have a well-defined goal", that sums up donnies presidency in a nutshell.

Donald specifically said that it would be huuuge and really tremendous, and I believe him because he said he's really smart. What else do you need to know? I bet nobody knows rocket science like he does. Rumor has it that he's ordered NASA to build a warp drive once Trump's "Mar-A-Luna Moon Base and Casino" is completed, and that sounds like a pretty goddamned well-defined goal to me. Did Obama build a warp drive? No. No, he didn't.

"The Daily Caller" is a cesspool of spin and alternative facts with the singular purpose of keeping low-info, paranoid, and angry alt-right imbeciles ignorant, paranoid, and angry.
