Concerns from people who think ethical journalism is journalists saying what they want to hear, and getting offended because they heard something they didn't want to hear ... which wasn't even what was actually said.

Not sure what made up timeline you are referring to, but journalists having relationships with devs to get special treatment, generally having an insider buddy hook up / blacklist network, along with the long standing issue of content being controlled by industry ad revenue are all worthy complaints that somehow was responded to with 19 "gamers are dead" articles within 4 days.

A flimsy pretext for a bunch of misogynists to spend months whining about women invading their safe space.

No, the problem is you don't understand fact from fantasy. There are zero assumptions involved. A few people getting upset about something here or there has always been true. However, the liberal left has been going batshit bananas about fucking everything for decades now. And it only gets progressively worse. The rest of the normal world isn't bringing you participation medals or capitalizing the word Black when referring to black people, oh wait, you can't even call them that any more without a death threat or being called a goose-stepping Nazi. Time to come out of your reality distortion bubble and take a big whiff of reality.

Weird how you keep on saying the things you can't say. How does that work?

I mean maybe Cutter has a point here - their "wokeness" and fragile sensibilities makes them outraged when a game features plot points or structures that doesn't cater to their specific tastes, and instead of simply ignoring the game they want the game to change to their tastes. But they won't look to the mod community to do it, they take to Twitter and rag on the developers.

Oh, you mean like all the people sending death threats to the Last of Us 2 devs because they didn't like the plot points or structures, and it didn't cater to their specific tastes?

Those woke KotakuInAction people?
The voice actor for the antagonist of Boyfriend Dungeon is getting the same treatment...
Which sort of reinforces the point that sociopolitical lean is practically irrelevant on whether someone's an entitled little shit that takes entertainment media way too damn seriously, despite everyone rushing to peg the blame on only that.

No it doesn't. Not even close. I don't hear anyone from the center or right making death threats to game devs because they're not getting what they want. This shit is always and only from the left-wing extremists. 'What?! What do you mean the protagonist isn't a multiracial pansexual SJW!?!? I'll fucking kill you if you don't make that happen!!!'

Wait till you hear about GamerGate, it will blow your mind.

There might be some inconsistency with how people are affected, and perhaps the new pop-in is more noticeable on lower-end systems. Personally, I have noticed zero difference in graphics and a small improvement in performance so this update has been great for me.
ObsidianAnt runs a 3080, and you can see building pop in pretty obviously in the distance.

I got something like that before the update. It's impossible for me to say if it was as bad - particularly as it's been 3 months since I last played it - but it was a bit distracting.

WHY DO YOU THINK THIS CHANGES ANYTHING?

Are you really so blind as to think the left would excuse the behavior if perpetrated by BLM or other left-leaning groups?

Have you watched the drivel that came from CNN and other far left news organizations for the last 4 years? Have you seen how they've covered the riots, especially at first?

Wow so they covered something completely different in a completely different way?

Calling CNN far left really says everything about you.

The fact many on the "other side of the aisle" call the 6th an insurrection without second thought yet defend all the BLM and left-wing election riots as necessary "protests" is beyond me.

Do you really not see the differences between poltiically motivated people roaming the halls of our nation's capitol looking to stop the certification of the Presidential election, and some angry people in the street of some random city smashin a few windows and setting a dumpster on fire? Or why one is an insurrection and the other is, at worst, a riot?

Our nation's capitol and a random liquor store are not the same thing.

Good question. To me the police is the arm of the law; a limb of the government's body. To rise up against the police is to rise up against the government. So cause related, there is little difference and "insurrection" can be applied to both.

Little difference? Ridiculous. One was about generations of police violence - the tyrannical government that right-wingers claim they are against, btw - and one was whining because they didn't like the election result. The comparison is incredibly disingenuous, and to say there's little difference is wilfully ignorant.

Except, yes they are asking for that..maybe you just dont see it because you dont see the garbage bullshit posted on social media asking for everything to be given to them, every apology made, and everything they could be offended by, including statues of people who fought against segregation and slavery.. torn down. "but I am not talking about those people" of course you arent, but those are the ones driving the crazy train youre on.

OMG some people on social media said something dumb? I'd better throw away all my morals, all my principles, betray my country, launch an attempted fascist coup, lie about and ignore a pandemic, etc etc etc!

This is how you've become radicalised. Actually radicalised, not affordable-healthcare-would-be-good radicalised. People have shown you at best a small number of nutters, more likely misleading you or straight up lying to you, and you've become an extremist in response to a largely imaginary opposite extreme.

Apparently none.

From VentureBeat:
While Amazon originally licensed Lumberyard from Crytek, the maker of the CryEngine, the company has rewritten the code from scratch. Director of AWS game tech Eric Morales said in an interview with GamesBeat that it is unencumbered by any intellectual property rights. Aniszczyk [CTO of the Linux Foundation] also confirmed that the Open 3D Engine is clear of such encumbrances. It has built-in patent protection, Aniszczyk said.

Oh, really? So you don't think you are paying for the costs and the other "poor" countries benefit? Well, then why not make one low price worldwide?

Whatever. I got more than 1,000 Steam games and supported many studios, developers, publishers. If they make it more expensive, it will lead to the same amount of money being less spread i.e. the bigger publishers and studios are going to win in the end and stuff like Hades will get the stick. But I guess this what the final stage of our economy looks like: monopolies refusing risk and creativity. It is desired this way, I guess.

I presume doing this increases revenue from other countries by increasing sales by more than the decreased cost. What other reason is there, out of kindness for the poor underprivileged people of the world? We all know publishers don't operate like that.

I've always had a simple policy - my support for your cause goes to basically zero when you resort to terrorism/barbarism. To me, regardless of which side gets US support, and which side is right or wrong, both sides are equivalent enough in that. I am tired of innocent people dying.

But what about all the people suffering, overwhelmingly Palestinian, who don't resort to terrorism?

It's my opinion that the Israeli government are deliberately provoking violent responses in order to justify their slaughter. Make people live in shit, and then when people fight back against having to live and die in shit use this as justification for making people live in shit. Any "both sides" argument is exactly what they want because it makes it sound like it's not a massive military exterminating people (some of whom are) fighting for survival.

It's pretty much standard operating procedure to provoke violence from peaceful protestors exactly to achieve what you're giving them. I think the Israeli government have been doing this for years, US cops did it last year (and many other times), British cops do it regularly, basically "law" enforcement everywhere. Giving them what they want only encourages them to keep doing it.

Fuck the people who resort to violence, but separate them from the cause.
