So if it's just client side, does the person hosting the game and I both have to have it installed to benefit?

This mod is a server side only mod that should make network play smoother in these games, right? The author doesn't make much clear on his site...

Still no update for Windows 2000 drivers, though the ones for XP seem to work OK with W2K.

(I'm 35)

I wonder if Battlezone 1 could be updated - that game was great.

If you install the open source RockBox software. I've been using it for a couple of years now on my Archos mp3 player. Great stuff. www.rockbox.org

The original was an incredible groundbreaking and genrebusting game. I played the demo of BZ2 and wasn't that impressed (I think that my system was too wimpy for it). Perhaps I should try it again...

If all that I've read about the differences in Vista is true, this is probably pretty unlikely (an all-Windows version, that is).

Gameplay experiences are at least in part system dependent.

It seems to me that most reviewers play games with much better systems than the average user has, which can make a big difference both in gameplay and in presentation.

A similar thing can be found in hardware reviews: they always use cutting-edge tech in reviews. I want to know how videocard X performs in my Athlon XP machine, not in some new 64 bit system.

I didn't read the whole article, but it looks an awful lot like MediaMonkey (www.mediamonkey.com). I've been using that for a few months and really like it -- a good replacement for Winamp and Musicmatch. It runs a lot of winamp plugins. It too is put together by a fairly small team and is updated regularly with new features and fixes.

Is it just me, or was that article really lacking in specifics?

I'm sure that people have been waiting a long time to complain about this.

If the game is as fun as Q2 was -- I'm there!

It wasn't a NotLD game, but Manke's "They Hunger" was a lot of fun -- more fun for me than the original Half Life.

Interesting news. I wonder if the expansion will emphasize explaining the story better. I really loved playing through HL2, and though I always knew what I was supposed to do, I often felt like I didn't know what was really going on (like when the walls were being closed in on the city -- which I didn't realize until reading reviews later). I can't decide if that was intentional -- a kind of "you've just woken up from a 15 year sleep" realism, or if it was a result of cutting parts out to make release dates, or if they just decided the the HL2 story wasn't going to jive with the HL1 story, and players wouldn't really care. Maybe the expansion will make things clearer.

On top of that, is it really necessary? Seems to me that the Ravenholm (I think that's what they were called) levels were very much like They Hunger.
I did love They Hunger, though. More than Half Life really. Mowing down zombies with vehicles is fun!

From all of the press their new flash players are getting and the lines out the door to shell out for one, you'd think that they're the only ones making digital music players. Flash-based ones have been cheap and available for years.

Was great. As much fun as the original HL, I thought. Hope to see it on Source, and hope that it's a better port than HL:Source.
