To All those who say "duke3d wasnt really special", please, go download JonoF's Duke source port, install duke again and play a couple of levels . That game was just great. period.

......Why does George Broussard get such special treatment. Payola?

Good post, I agree on most points, but to be fair, after 2001 3DR hasnt really said anything about the game except that they now use a different engine (their own) and that they licenced a physics engine. both of these are things that they almost have to announce, and isnt really a way to try to hype the game IMO. Everything else is just pure speculation on game sites. 3DR could have posted a screenshot a month to get PR if thats what they wanted, I think they are really TRYING to lay low, and not hype their game at all, the thing is there are just so many of us old Duke-fans and fanatics out there so every little comment and rumor gets blown out of proportion, everytime I see "DNF" in a blues headline I get all excited again there's just something magic about this game.. Half of me thinks its going to be the best thing since well.. ever, and the other that it never actually comes out.

Digital Extremes developed Unreal, Unreal Tournament, UT2003 and UT2004 along with Unreal Championship on XBox.

Let it be said that most of these were develop toghether with Epic, and that pariah will be the first game thats "all DE" both in name, concept and development. I think its an Unreal engine game

Amazing how the US vs europe debate relates to absolutely everything..

I hope Pariah is good, it looks a bit too much like Unreal2 tho.

For those who don't know, the "Slam" was like a satchel charge in the Alpha (Drop a slam, wait for someone to get near it and hit the detonate button)

I hope we'll see those laser trip mines return as well, and the crowbar, and a Gordon model.. Still, this is gonna be awesome.

George Nukem Forever. Amazing idea! If Duke ever gets out, I'm gonna make a Dubya one-liner voice pack.

Using IE is like playing minesweeper with real mines, and pop-ups.

The D3 shotgun was just "weak" in appearance IMO, they better spice up the sound and anims for it (and make the DB even more awesome). that was my biggest complain with D3, along with the 500 or so "SUPRISE!! imp spawns!" the real bad about the spawns was the fact that you couldnt hear the imps etc from a distance, like in DOOM1 and 2

I actually liked the flashlight system for some strange reason.

Pah, check out Sweden and Finland on any EU map and you'll see one of the largest and anatomically disturbingly correct phallus's in Gods creation, poised in nervous anticipation above Germany and Poland.

No, thats Jimi Hendrix jammin' man!!

19. Re: No subject Jan 7, 2005, 22:36 BicycleRepairMan

We have seen Screen Shots of DNF, even if they where 5 graphic engines old. So, it obviously exists too, some what, in some form
I've also seen both videos and photos of the Phantom console.. I guess vaporware means its not likely to come out very soon..

I personally think the jury was 100% right in naming Phantom #1, I guess they figured DNF has had enough after the lifetime achievement award. Call me naive but I believe both TF2 and DNF will come out some day, Phantom , on the other hand is a BULLSHIT P.O.S that will NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER see the light of day. and I will stand by that

Edit: spelling and general drunkeness (sorry)

Sure, lots of things are bad in this world, but this is still a major disaster, certainly the worst non-war event ever to affect my country, with 1440 missing norwegians atm.. unfortunatly, we are far from being the worst hit , of course..

Something good did happen though, like that comment by the UN that pissed off lots of countries and seemed to trigger a contest in giving, lets hope it catches on, so we might see a deletion of the 3rd worlds debt etc, and more help to other crisis around the globe. It wouldnt be a moment to soon.

8. Ladders Dec 17, 2004, 03:50 BicycleRepairMan

Fixed not being able to attach to ladder tops

Ladders is my one annoyance with the Source engine, they really dont work that good it seems, the climb-off can be really frustrating.( a good example is that one ladder in dm_lockdown) The explanation was apparantly that as the maps got more complex, they had to come up with a different system, well fair enough I guess, but IMO, it would be better to keep the old system as a backup, and when creating ladders, the mapper could just keep things simple around the ladder.. Or maybe its the movable props that get in the way.. oh well, the new system is still not that great.

I guess its up to the mappers to make the best out of it, read the tutorial, and use plenty of those "exit spots" or whatever they are called, I tried making a map, and it seems it got smoother if you did it just right.

Let me assure you, though, that the themes and elements that you love about Doom are ALL represented strongly in the film...just with some new twists.

The theme is HELL, the elements are DEMONS and BIG F%##ing GUNS

This movie is about (according to the preview) viruses, virus-infected people and BioForce guns.

Twists my ass.

And your response to incidents like the repeated attacks to the WTC, international flight bombings, bombings in Spain (even after they bowed and wimpered to terrorist pressures in the last election), homicide bombings in the Middle East, and terror cells in many western countries planning/wanting to try chemical/nuke/biological/conventional attacks on civilians (among other things) would be what, exactly?

Maybe it would be to go after THE PEOPLE WHO DID IT, like Osama bin Laden, (instead of some random oil rich dictator who never made a single threat to the USA), and go into no-nonsense dialog with Saudi Arabia, where most of the terrorists seems to come from, and find out why this country seems to breed terrorism so effeciently.. just a suggestion.

30. Pantera Dec 9, 2004, 13:39 BicycleRepairMan

That shooting was really tragic. I've never heard Damage Plan, but I did listen alot to Pantera a few years ago, "Cowboys from hell" and "Vulgar display of power" mostly.

A sad day for metal, and even for music and live performances as a whole.
