For those who missed last nights news, New RO Trailer, Must see:
http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=postmessage&boardid=1&id=0&threadid=72383

New update brings back Danzig to Red Orchestra and is generally awesome. This is the second big content pack for RO since its release in may or so. Also lots of improvements have been made, akward walking animations are now history and the view distance is now at a whopping 4000 meters for those really big tank maps.

If you havent got this awesome game yet, something is wrong with you.

Why the big fuzz anyway, I upgraded, most of the extensions work, those who dont probably soon will.. its like a 4mb download, takes 1 minute to install.. Dont like it? uninstall.. jeez.

BTW: the X's on the tabs can be removed:

1. Type about:config in the address bar

2. Change browser.tabs.closeButtons to the value you wish.

* 0 - Display close button only on the active tab
1 - Display close buttons on every tabs
2 - Never display close buttons
3 - Display single close button at the end of the tab strip (This is the old, default Firefox 1.5 behavior)

If browser.tabs.closeButtons does not exist, you can create it. Right-click the page and select New and then Integer

It says a lot when an American developer has to get a Russian publisher to distribute that crap.

It tells me that on some wierd janet-jackson-tits level the self censorship in the US is actually worse than Russia's, and in Russia, journalists get shot when speaking their mind. So yeah, that does say alot.

Another excellent reason to boycott everything EA and try stopping it from buying everything.

Support independent developers!!

Thanks for proving me right.

What part of what he said "proved you right"? that he mistook something that (in your language, not his) meant idiot for meaning "jerk"? I can call you jævla pappskalle, now thats my native language, lets see you look that up, and let me taunt you later for getting it wrong because I know perfectly well what it means.

Yeah i edit my posts too, cry me a river.

This is not a real game. It is a modifcation. If they make it $15 then I'll buy it, otherwise tell them to kiss my big white ass.

How many times do you have to make this point, you have now done it in every single fucking article on BN about RO. If you are so interested in the game, spend instead the time used to point out this pointless opinion you have, to do some work, and earn 25$ so you can just buy the fucking game and be done with it..

No its not a fucking modification, they have the engine license, they rebuilt everything, added engine features and all original content, so its no more an unreal mod than Splinter cell is.

It doesnt have as much content as , say Half-life 2, or splinter cell or other 50$ games, but then again, the price is HALF that of most new games, if you find that terribly unfair, then kiss your own white ass.

Alot of the complaints on RO was related to the walking animations which looked stiff and unnatural, well, no more of that, check out the new ones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXXnHvFf7VI

Actually they are effectively now sold that way

Ok, but thats old games, I meant when they were new.. anyway the point was just that almost any sequel can often be narrowed down to be basically new content for an old game, with better graphics etc. There are for instance mods for HL2 in the works that offer more originality and quality then some of the sequels and movie-tie-ins out there, say if Insurgency delivers what it promises, I'd gladly pay 25$ for that too, instead of buying some other soul-less crap console-port for 50$. The fact that mod teams that work that hard for that long simply gives it away for free doesnt always mean the games arent worth anything.

Modification game

This term is the most meaningless I've heard this year. So what was UT2004 over UT2003? how about Quake2 over Quake 1, Those games are WAY more similar then RO and any other Unreal-engine game.. So what makes it a mod? that it used to be one? well, fair enough, but not really true. They completely rebuilt the game for the retail release, including rewriting of the movement system, hit-detection, weapon resting, motion blur, completely new vehicle code, and all new or updated maps

If this game isnt worthy of a retail price, then neither is Battlefield 2 or much less BF:V (which btw is probably still 50$) By your logic, those games should be sold as a 5$ BF'42 mods.

RO isnt a perfect game, some flaws exists, such as lack of climbing and the nerfed jumping, but in return, theres no bunnyhopping or dolphin diving or any even remotely similar exploits that makes the game stupid.

Rip people off? this game offers almost as much content as any 50$ Battlefield game, and its one-map "expansion packs" are free, and they actually update regulary to fix important issues.

In addition, its gameplay is much deeper than most, if not all of its competition.

Lastly, but almost most importantly, Tripwire is a small, 100% independent developer, they have full artistic freedom, and they are not even slightly afraid of using that freedom, even if their jobs and income is at risk because of it. They refuse to make anything other than the game they want to play themselves

In a world FULL of corporate, greedy bastard companiesy who buy every developer and shut them down so their movie-based shit-sequel can make some more money, that deserves every cent of the 25$ in my opinion

What could you new weapon be?

Hmm, could it be the Gewehr 41: the German semi automatic rifle which was used early in the war but phased out with the arrival of the much improved G43. ?

(follow the link to the RO website to see the complete list)

Well said DrEvil.

I think religion is interesting in many ways, lately I've been thinking how its sort of like we as a lifeform might have ironically developed religion as a way to survive and develop ourselves collectivly. Its a known thing that even a democratically elected leader will have trouble if he/she decides to put themselves above the others, as in that they are supposed to tell everyone how to live their life, people will instantly feel "they have no right to tell me who to sleep with, how much drugs I should use or wether i can eat pigs or not." But still, this can be things leaders must decide on, to protect the community from diseases or chaos. And thats when religion is the ultimate tool, because it makes it easy to forbid these things, and presented with the option of eternal hell if they dont follow the rules, people will actually follow the rules as well..
