What Brubold said. I've suspended my account for six months to give them some time to work it over. Several of the caster classes are quite a bit more powerful than other classes, (and some are gimps).

For the record, I have no problem with a few classes, especially caster classes, being considerably more powerful than others -- provided four restraining factors are involved:

1) They should be very, very squishy. Like "one-shot" squishy at highest PvP levels.
2) They should take MUCH longer to level up, preferably by a logarithmic factor directly related to their increased power.
3) Almost impossible to solo past low levels.
4) Weaknesses similar to D&D rules. They should have specific weaknesses which hamper them, (other than direct squishiness), e.g. - slow travel, sickly, poor vision, etc. The more powerful the class, the more offsetting weaknesses.

EQ had some of it right with the Wizard and Enchanter classes, but fell down in the end.

The last thing I want is "perfect balance." That translates to "perfectly boring." If everything's balanced to a "t", then everybody's the same paper dolls in different colors of construction paper. I may as well play solitaire.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, Aero. At least that'd be more interesting than shooting disorganized goat herders.

I'm hoping they're about done on their run with this modern warfare crap. Sorry, done that for real and don't have any interest in playing the game. Just use the engine to update the WW2 CM games and I'll be quite content - along with the rest of their core user base that they've been slowly but surely alienating since they released CMSF.

you’re like the minor and I’m the cargo hauler

Indeed. That might make an interesting variation on the "hot tattooed ice cream vendor chick and awkward teenage boy" game.

Er... I mean...

Who you calling 'demented'?

Nah, that's proper English, the staff in this case is a singular entity: The staff is, the staffs are.

Actually, both usages are correct. Since the entity is composed of multiple individuals, it can be referred to as a monolithic or as a conglomerate. The former usage is more common in American English, the latter in Queen's English.

I would be still playing LOTRO if they had some sort of decent PVP but they don't.

the MVP crap just sucks, but the crafting is awsome in it and the pve is awsome the graphics are awsome, group based combat is pretty cool too
This.

It's a top flight care-bear game, but I got bored with it after getting one character to 50. As Jackal says, MvP is a bad joke. Warhammer satifies my occasional urge for PvP and still has a pretty decent PvE component.

Bright wizards are stupid overpowered, but I can deal with that, since when you do manage to get close to them with some heavy metal, they squish real good. Red-eyed, screaming-at-the-monitor vengeance is a gameplay component too, you know...

4: They drop that frustratingly pathetic 'enemies level with you' system. When at level 3 you can kill goblins in 2-4 blows but at level 23 you need to hit the exact same goblin 30-60 times before it goes down, you know the system is absolutely FUBAR. Drop it, never pick it up again.. I'm talking to you Bethesda.

This is by far the biggest issue for me. It is quite literally a buy/no buy point. Anyone played far enough into the game to address this with confidence?

Not trying to sound ungrateful, as I'm really looking forward to this, but I am a bit disappointed that they skipped over the pike & shot era. I find that to be the most fascinating type of warfare ever fought. Of course, I'm a bit of a history nerd, so it's probably a pretty small potential market. Oh well; looking forward to the high seas fighting. There hasn't been a proper Age of Sail computer wargame since... well, the original "Age of Sail" by TalonSoft, actually. (Those later attempts by Akella were HORRID.)

MMO's waste people lives

Ah! KilrathiAce has been assigned responsibility for deciding which parts of people's lives are "wasted" and which are productive. He is the final arbiter, so bow to his wisdom.

Arrogant ass.

i'd hate for them to mow down a great show by creating a crappy game

No worries; the crappy movie already did a bang-up job of destroying the mystique of the series. An MMO can't possibly do any worse.

The main attraction of EVE is smashing other people's sand castles either through pvp or scamming. Everything else is usually mundane, boring, and takes a long time.

This is the most succinct and accurate description of EVE that I've ever seen. Nevertheless, I feel the need to expound...

Basically, if you're a natural bully, you'll love the game. If, however, you typically play well with others, say 'please' and 'thank you', and generally act like a civilized human being, there's nothing in EVE for you. It's a paradise for immature lack-wits and people who've failed at life. Oh, it's gorgeous and looks very tempting, and it had me fooled for a few weeks, but it's a caramel-covered rotten apple. EVE isn't high space opera, it's Fight Club for retards.

Short version: Don't waste your time.
