Maybe they'll also buy ATI a competent driver authoring department. That's what finally chased me away from ATI several years ago: fantastic hardware with godawful driver support. It's like biting into a juicy prime rib steak and finding that it carries a faint odor of dog piss.

(First Color Explosion

All the previous explosions occured only in black and white. The question is, would a black and white explosion destroy a color building? We may never know...

one of the businesses that was damaged is one of the local Chinese restaurants where I've been food poisoned

You've been food poisoned in more than one Chinese restaurant? Perhaps you're allergic to cat meat.

with weapons sounds and music enhanced

Who listens to music while playing UT? That sounds (pun intended) like an excellent way to get fragged to me. I go to great pains to arrange my speakers for perfect positional audio in order to help me pinpoint the direction of an enemy. The last thing I need is some second-rate elevator music masking everything.

Oh, and I still suck (at UT, I mean). But that's not the sound system's fault. I'm just really, really bad at FPS games. Which kinda makes me wonder why I bother... Hrm...

From the late 1500s to the 1600s, pirates preyed on the large Spanish galleons that visited the American coast, known as the Spanish Main, twice a year. These galleons dropped off supplies for the colonies and picked up gold and silver to take back to England.

Which really pissed off the Spanish and surprised the hell outta the English...

Interestingly, there doesn't seem to be an entry at HowStuffWorks.com for "proof editor."

we feed the dogs from raised dishes... at the very least it's easier on their backs

Basset hounds come with a built-in solution for this problem.

Yeah, but what about the zombie squirrels?

Good god man, they're the undead. And they want your nuts.

I laughed so hard I drooled on my keyboard. Bad nin! BAD!

If you look at a chihuahua from just the right angle, its legs strongly resemble a football tee.

Just sayin'...

The gods have mastered English? Well, it's about damned time!

A'right, listen up, god-boys; I've a long list of requests, many of which are time-critical. You'll want to take notes...

accessible, engrossing games that overdeliver.

Was anyone else overcome by an overwhelming desire to throw an overhand punch at Mr. Batista's mouth when they read that?

Corporate PR hacks are exceeded in sliminess only by class-action lawyers. Damned parasites.

SOE got lucky making the first well known one, Everquest, and they haven't been able to duplicate the success yet.

Not even that, MindTrigger: SOE didn't make EverQuest, they bought it--lock, stock and barrel. It was designed and developed by Verant, the key personnel of which now form the core of Sigil, the developers of Vangaurd: Saga of Heroes. Sony recently realized the massive scope of their rapidly-compounding errors and scrambled to buy the publishing rights for Vanguard, thus reacquiring the only real MMOG talent that ever worked for them. The circle of inanity is complete, but at least they finally realized their error.

Maybe they'll listen to McQuaid & Company a little more closely this time. Maybe.

Got to looking at the site's "In Development" list, and came across this:

Battlecruiser Online is the eagerly anticipated MMOG version in the long running Battlecruiser series. Featuring engines developed for Battlecruiser Generations and Battlecruiser Tactical Command and all their advanced features, BCO is bringing the first truly immersive MMOG spanning several genres to the market.

As much as I would really love to avoid another Derek Smart hate-fest... well, he just keeps throwing himself into the fire. He's like that retarded kid who grew up down the street and didn't understand he was retarded. You knew you'd feel bad if you yelled "Stop nagging me! You're retarded!" but he just refused to go away.

Mr. Smart, please stop. For the love of all that's holy, PLEASE STOP.

Uh... You're 'bout 25 years late, fellas.

(Read the article; it's a port of the 1981 game, with some extremely minor cosmetic enhancements. For the MAME-less, I suppose.)

"This feature grows the overall scope and quality of the game attempts to compensate for a poor initial design decision."

Fixed that for 'em.

Mm...

Well, I'll grudgingly grant the logic of your point, but I don't trust other people's shortcuts. Certainly not other people's shortcuts relayed via an irritating device. And that's because I'm a curmudgeonly old bastard.

Now get off my damn lawn, nin!
