The bird seed story sounds like a good analogy on online piracy......

These guys are the model of what all developers should aspire to. They don't get bent out of shape over piracy, rather, they take great care of their paying customers and foster one of the strongest game communities around.

Ubisoft doesn't deserve to be a partner with Nadeo.

Ugh. I hated the original BF:Vietnam. I don't like the jungle setting at all and the music really gets on my nerves. LOL sorry for all the hate! I loved all the other BF games, but I'll be passing on this expansion.

I liked it but I agree about jungle maps, they get old really quick.

God almighty just stop with the hype on "Project Natal". NO ONE CARES. How about a controller that better emulates a mouse for 360 FPS games?

Mechwarrior Living Legends started out being developed for the battlefied 2142 engine. Then they went to Crysis engine and will soon be going to the Crysis Wars engine. It's been in development for at least since 2007. I don't think anyone who owns the rights to Battletech\Mechwarrior has a problem with this mod.

Overon, I think you have your mods confused. The BT mod that started life on the 2142 engine is still there:

LL started on, and always has been, a Crysis mod. Wink

actually its nearly a year.

I was hoping there would be a big announcement at E3 but it doesn't look like that will be happening. I'm starting to get a little nervous.

I heard White Gold is a fail. Precursors got decent reviews in the Easter Euro press but, then again, they have totally different tastes than the West.

God damn this argument is stale. Games are games, stop trying to fit them into a more respectable category to make yourself feel better about the fact you're an adult playing videogames. Enjoy them for what they are.

I don't see anything about being able to blast through rock. Being underground you'd think they'd allow at least SOME terrain deformation but it looks like its still gonna be only structures.

It is fun but you'll need a really beefy system to get to a playable frame-rate. My system is about 3 yrs behind but its still can run Crysis etc with almost all settings pegged. This game though just brings it to its knees. I've tried many different settings and drivers but it doesn't help.

They did this with BF2 as well. Vehicles are part of what makes this IP so great. If I wanted infantry only I'll go back to CoD.

I know there are a ton of people who claim they pirate because they cant afford the games, yet the same kdis always seem to have PC's that can run Crysis at max settings, and have a mobile phone that costs more than my car.
If you could pirate mobile phones, then I'm sure mysteriously a lot of them would not eb able to afford to buy phones either. Its a question of choosing where to spend your money.
If you chosoe to spend all your cash at starbucks and pirate all your games (for example), then expect to get lots more branches of starbucks and far fewer games in future.

Cliff, I appreciate your opinion and mine would probably be the same if I were a developer as well but don't you think the piracy issue affecting sales is a tad overplayed? Don't you think falling sales numbers are due to more people choosing consoles over a desktop? The fact is desktop PC's are becoming obsolete in many ways and kids growing up now tend to use laptops or phones for functions that used to be mainly done with a desktop PC. Like music, the market is simply in transition and it's up to developers and publishers to find creative ways to market their products instead of finding ways to keep an old and inefficient model in place. Part of that is serving the needs of paying customers and not getting so caught up in a group that *probably* wouldn't have bought said products in the first place. I know it's getting stale to bring them up as an example but Valve has shown that serving the needs of their core customers is a far more profitable way to go than pissing people off with DRM that is NEVER EVER going to stop piracy.

How about focusing on giving your paying customers real service instead of getting butthurt over people who weren't going to buy your product anyhow?

BTW, how about learning the difference between "stealing" and "using without permission". One implies taking something for which there is no replacement. Digital products are infinitely reproducible.
