So am I the only one here thinking that you could get quite a decent Bladerunner (the game) style adventure out of this concept? Randomly select/generate 'scandals' and mess around with who is involved, so that each time you play you have to figure it all out anew. Some smart design to get the A.I. working appropriately, and you've got the basis of a completely decent game on your hands (if not one that is likely to appeal to most of us here).

Will they do something like that? I doubt it. The show is hardly devoid of game potential, though.

Mmm. The press release doesn't seem to suggest a life sim but an adventure game of some sort... Which would work pretty well in the DH world. One wonders how many people on this board have actually seen the show...

I dunno, I kinda enjoyed both Analyse This! (with Lisa Kudrow) and Office Space (Jennifer Aniston).

*jaw drops*

75 dollars? For 1.5 Mbit? Good lord.

I've got a 10 Mbit LAN connection like everyone else in the area, and the regular price is around 300 swedish kronor ($35 or so). On top of that I've got the half-price student discount though.

Hey, don't be so harsh! You can clearly tell the care and dedication they've put into their games from the perfectly worded press release.

J.W. "Wild Bill" Stealey

real time strategy titles such as "Civilization"

ActionTrip has the worst site design I've ever seen.

That is pretty dire. Especially in 800x600. Still doesn't beat the old cdmag.com layout, though, now mercifully retired.

Since they're in so many countries they've probably stopped caring about potential offensiveness. Jerker (reasonably common first name) and Fartfull ("Full of Speed") wouldn't make anyone cringe in Sweden, and neither would all the stuff that happens to sound strange in the hundreds other languages.

For instance, the office set Viktig ("Important") is pronounced the same as Fick Dich ("Fuck You") in german.:)

I can see how adding a blend of indian spices could enhance the kitkat experience. I'm also the first person to point out the virues of Cumin, possibly my favourite spice in the whole world. But... Cumin-flavoured kitkats?

As far as I can tell there isn't an actual city known as San Andreas. California does have the San Andreas faultline which runs pretty much the entire length of the state. Given how different Northern, Southern and Central California are from eachother it's difficult to say which California city inspired San Andreas.

Not particularly considering the original map had a gigantic red bridge crossing the harbour and areas like Richman (actually Richmond) and Sunrise (Sunset)...

The attractions of setting a car-chase game in a facsimile of San Fransisco should be obvious to anyone who's seen Bullitt.

What is it with gaming geeks and duff, mainstream classic rock? Or is it an american thing? No-one I know would even glance towards Queen etc. It's just weird, like a big 1980s throwback convention for those clinically bereft of taste.

Admittedly I listened to the stuff in my teens but I thought I was an exception and of course I've seen the light and ammended my ways by now.

Oh, and why not standardise food nutrition to a certain amount of weight instead of a "serving"? Everything is per 100 grams here.

Someone here mentioned that the IP that is SS was parceled out to several different companies. This makes a SS3 as likely as Arafat and Sharon dancing together in Jerusalem.

Hey, it can still happen. Look at Civ3- at one point Activision owned the name "Civilization" (bought from Avalon Hill), MicroProse owned the name "Civ" and Sid Meier owned the name "Sid Meier". Then MicroProse licenced the name "Civilization" again from the original british creators of the board game, sued Activision for the rights to the name, won, were promptly bought by Hasbro Interactive (now Atari (briefly Infogrames))* who then published the game designed by Sid's company Firaxis. Steaming turd of a game but at least it happened.

* Hasbro Interactive's then parent company Hasbro also bought Avalon Hill, thus ensuring the brand name stayed in the family forever. Although Hasbro Interactive was sold off to Infogrames and renamed Atari which makes it a bit more confusing.

We've had these for years in La Suède! I love news stories like this, there was one on TV about recycling PET bottles recently I found amusing too... Everyday machines turned into bizarre, future-tech wonders.

I've now been subjected to two complete monster-radio-hit runs of this song (first in Sweden over christmas, then back at univeristy in the UK in february/march), but this is the first time I see the video. Cool.

Er, make that another Star Wars title, this one (much like FT:HoW, SWON and S&M:FP) previously known but only announced now.

So that's 2-1-2 SW titles and 2-3-1 non-SW titles, plus RTX: Red Rock which seems to have mysteriously vamoosed from the lineup.

To be fair, they did say 50/50. And it's still less than that.

So far at their E3 Page: four Star Wars titles of which two are new, six non-SW titles of which two are entirely new and three are only fully announced now.

Jeff Bezos clearly told you to shut up about the space project, and what do you do? You post about it in OoTB!

Shame.

Up until Win98 anyway you could always use good old XCopy under a windows session, just telling it to ignore all errors. It got everything over except the swap file.

Ah, but on the other hand the term "Sports Utility Vehicle" wasn't invented 'til the mid-nineties. Although that could be a later embellishment.

Maggie is enough of a famous figure, at least on this side of the pond, to be remembered years after the fact. However, there are no britishisms and enough american-specific terms and references (What the heck is "Nordstrom's"? Anyone?) to make it almost certainly a product written by an American. What's her fame status over there?

Proficiency in Maya? Isn't that a bit harsh? It's practically a dead language, I doubt any universities offer it except in Peru.
