Out of the Blue

I'm getting my hopes up again about the murder of crows that hang out around our pond. At the beginning of the summer many of them were spending time in the trees right next to us before moving off to the other side of the pond where they usually reside. But for the past week or so they've been over here again for large stretches. Hopefully they're sticking around for the winter, as they don't generally migrate. But they don't generally leave their normal spot either, so who knows. Anyway, I know I'm probably kidding myself in thinking I can actually befriend any of them, but with them closer by I can always hope. In the meantime, I actually enjoy their cawing at each other. It is quite a racket, but they really do seem to converse with each other, which is extremely cool.
