Destiny 2 Revenant Begins

Bungie announces that Destiny 2 Revenant kicks off a new episode in the free-to-play first-person shooter for PC and consoles, and Act I of the Windows edition is live on the Windows Store, the Epic Games Store, and Steam. The roll-out will come in chunks between now and early February, including the release of a new map on Friday. Fikrul the Fanatic has re-emerged, possessing a powerful Echo and an army of undead Scorn at his command. Guardians will become Slayer Barons and upgrade their abilities with powerful tonics to confront the Scorn’s corrupted ether.

Dead Season Released

Is it wabbit season or duck season? It's neither, as Dead Season is now underway on GOG.com* and Steam, kicking off another zombie survival game for Windows from Snail Bite and Iceberg Interactive. This post on Steam celebrates the launch with the Release Trailer and a request to leave a review, which may be backfiring at first. Here's word on this turn-based strategy offering:
The air hangs heavy with the stench of decay - a grim reminder of the world's rapid descent into chaos. Streets once bustling with life now lay deserted, haunted by the shuffling footsteps of the undead. A random group of four survivors find themselves thrown together by their shared struggle for survival, in a world overrun by the zombie hordes. PC Red Dead Redemption This Month

Rockstar Games finally announces a PC edition of Red Dead Redemption, saying the Western RPG will launch for Windows on October 29th, a mere 14 years after it arrived on consoles. This is not unexpected, as a series of credible rumors have long suggested the port was a question of "when," not "if." Word is this will include Undead Nightmare, the game's zombie-horror companion story, because zombies. Here's a trailer with a look at what to expect, and here's word on features this will support in the wild-west of PC hardware:
In collaboration with Double Eleven, this new version adds PC-specific enhancements including native 4K resolution at up to 144hz on compatible hardware, monitor support for both Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9), HDR10 support, and full keyboard and mouse functionality.

There’s also support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling technologies, NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation, adjustable draw distances, shadow quality settings, and more.

Sea of Legends Kickstarter

A Kickstarter is now underway for Sea of Legends, an open world (open sea?) deckbuilding game from famed designer Jordan Weisman (BattleTech, Shadowrun). This is based on successful a tabletop game with the same title that was also crowdfunded through Kickstarter. The official Sea of Legends Website is live in support of the project. Set in a systems driven dynamic world, players will seek ships to plunder, towns to raid, ancient treasures to discover, lovers to woo, and nemesis to vanquish. Their character development and the crew they recruit will develop the card decks that drive boarding actions, bar fights, deadly duels, and tactical combat against other pirates, Royal Navies, and the unnatural creatures they’ve aligned with.

Community members can now back Sea of Legends starting at $25 with the “Sailor” tier which includes a digital copy of the game or go deeper with tiers such as “Powder Monkey” which includes the game, soundtrack, 4 Digital Wallpapers, and the Art of Sea of Legends PDF book, or “Gunner”, which includes all previous rewards, Beta Access to Sea of Legends, and access to Adventure Forge, the accessible, no-code video game authoring platform that is being used to create Sea of Legends.

Phoenix Springs Released

Phoenix Springs is now available on Steam, kicking off a neo-noir point-and-click adventure for Windows, macOS, and Linux from Calligram Studio. This attempt to modernize two bygone genres is on display in the Launch Trailer. Word is: "Featuring award-winning hand-drawn art and a compelling investigative narrative, Phoenix Springs is a modern point-and-click where you collect clues and leads rather than physical objects." Until Dawn Technical Issues

The launch of Until Dawn for Windows shows mixed reviews on Steam, and a new post from Ballistic Moon has support details for the horror game suggesting that technical problems may be a contributing factor beyond the game's redundant PSN account requirement.
