Steam Testing Review Helpfulness System

Valve announces it is publicly testing a new "helpfulness system" for reviews on Steam to improve the system's ability to serve its purpose of informing users. The new system is enabled by default, and can be toggled off. Here's what's changed:
User reviews that are identified as being unhelpful for potential customers, such as one-word reviews, reviews comprised of ASCII art, or reviews that are primarily playful memes and in-jokes, will be sorted behind other reviews on the game’s store page. That doesn't mean players won't ever see these humorous, but unhelpful posts, but it hopefully means that they’ll see them less frequently when trying to learn about a game. If you enjoy seeing these sorts of reviews when browsing the store, there's an option on the store page to include them when browsing.

This change doesn't impact how review scores are generated for each game; it is simply changing the order that reviews appear on each store page.

World of Warcraft: The War Within This Month; Testing Tomorrow

Blizzard announces that World of Warcraft: The War Within will go live on August 26th. But there's still more testing to be done for the MMORPG, and the announcement includes details on how interested players can test the new content starting tomorrow:
Please join us for a special test on the War Within Beta realms tomorrow, Thursday, August 15 at 1:30 p.m. PDT (4:30 p.m. EDT, 22:30 CEST).

At that time, only a special realm named "Launch Test" will be available for testing.

Please log into the Launch Test realm and copy your live character or use a level 70 character template and then head to Dalaran. At 2:00 p.m. PDT (5:00 p.m. EDT, 23:00 CEST), we'll simulate a full expansion launch. Testers should receive the quest to start the expansion intro experience at that time.

The post includes a Comparison Trailer showing how this improves upon the original game. Here's word on those renovations:
We have completely relit the game to take advantage of Unreal Engine 5’s rendering features, including raytracing and enhanced materials, focusing on a more atmospheric and “modern horror” experience.

One of our key visual improvements for Until Dawn has been around revisiting the character models and bringing them in line with modern advances in character modeling and rendering. Out of the Blue

Kit Harington Says 'Game of Thrones' Ending Had Mistakes, Felt Rushed - Variety. An annoying aspect of how terrible it got was all the parties involved trying to pretend they thought it was good. So it's nice to see one of the principals admit the ending stunk. But wow, saying the reason it turned out that way was they were tired? There are so many ways that doesn't work as an excuse I wouldn't even know where to begin. You know nothing, Jon Snow.
