Epic Games Store Leaks Unannounced Games

A post on ResetEra outlines revelations from EpicDB.org, a new data scraping site for the Epic Games Store similar to how SteamDB stalks Steam. The new site is inaccessible as of this writing. This could be due to traffic based on its initial post listing a bunch of unannounced games allegedly discovered in the depths of Epic's databases. But Gematsu reports that Epic Games has stated its store has now disabled the ability for third-party tools to discover unpublished products, which may have broken things. Gematsu is one of many sites trying to unravel the news, since the discoveries use codenames rather than titles. So speculation about the unannounced games includes deductions, speculation, and likely some errors. Games thought to be revealed by this news include Planet Coaster 2, Farming Simulator 2, a possible Red Dead Redemption PC port, a possible Last of Us Part 2 Remastered PC port, Remnant 3, what might be Final Fantasy XVI, and more.

Valve Faces £656M UK Lawsuit

BBC reports on "a collective action claim" filed with the UK's Competition Appeal Tribunal accusing Valve Corporation of using its market position to overcharge UK gamers. "Valve is rigging the market, and taking advantage of UK gamers," says digital rights campaigner Vicki Shotbolt in bringing the case. The article states this amounts to a £656m lawsuit, and the description of the case sounds similar to the US lawsuit over the "most favored nation" clause in Steam agreements. Here's more on the accusation that Valve is "shutting out" competition in the PC games market:
It says Valve "forces" game publishers to sign up to so-called price parity obligations, preventing titles being sold at cheaper prices on rival platforms.

Ms Shotbolt says this has enabled Steam to charge an "excessive commission of up to 30%", making UK consumers pay too much for purchasing PC games and add-on content.

The case is what is known as a collective action claim, which means that one person goes to court on behalf of a much larger group of people.
Ms Shotbolt - who accuses Valve of breaching UK competition law for at least six years - says she is bringing the claim "to stop this unlawful conduct and help people get back what they are owed."

Starborne: Frontiers Launches

Starborne: Frontiers is now free-to-play for Windows PC and mobiles, offering Solid Cloud's spin-off of MMORTS Starborne: Sovereign Space. Available on the Starborne website, this was announced as an MMORPG, but the release news refers to it as "a tactical RPG sci-fi game" and the MMO part goes unmentioned. This is not the only confusion about all this, as Sovereign Space seems to remain in beta, while mentions of the previous "soft launch" for mobile suggests this is the official release of Frontiers. Here's the launch trailer and word:
New players can experience a game that has been finely tuned in all aspects. Starborne: Frontiers has received numerous updates during its soft launch all influenced by player feedback. Additions included highly requested holiday events and the release of the Abyss.

The Abyss, which is the biggest game mode to date, gives players the agency to explore a non-linear map and complete encounters on their terms. Players who take the beaten path are rewarded with in-game goodies to aid their galactic journey. They may even be tasked with making difficult command decisions that impact their rewards.
