Ironmarked Suspends Development; Releases Demo

Steam now offers a playable Windows demo for Ironmarked, a fantasy RPG with support for up to three players in co-op (thanks Eurogamer). As stated in this post, this is a good news/bad news scenario. While players can now sample this project, developer Flaming Fowl announces development of the game is suspended amid a round of layoffs at this studio founded by veterans of Lionhead Studios. All hope is not lost, however, as the post notes that if enough players wishlist the game, it may be possible to get funding to resume development. In the meantime, the studio will work on a smaller self-funded project:
Today we are releasing a demo of Ironmarked, a new game we have been working on recently. Unfortunately, due to the current lack of funding in the games industry, we are putting production on hold and have had to downsize the studio, letting go of some amazing people.

Although this is a difficult and sad time for everyone involved, we are very proud of what we were creating and want to share that with all of you. We also hope that by releasing this demo, we can help those people leaving us to secure new roles elsewhere, by demonstrating their outstanding work on the project.

Hopefully, with enough wishlists on Steam, we will be able to find funding in the future for Ironmarked, but until then we will be working on a smaller game that we can fully fund ourselves.

Here's a description, including the first-ever use of the word "dint" (not counting this one) on this website:
Our story begins in one corner of Allraan, a tapestry of nations with diverse cultures and values.

By dint of sword, and by way of magical objects known as “rune-lenses,” the land’s history has been shaped by the alliances and aggressions of the humans, beastmen, elves, and desert people who live there.

The Galdean Empire has edged out other nations and discovered a technology that amplifies the rune-lenses’ magic.

Atari Revives Infogrames Brand

Atari announces it is reviving the Infogrames brand as a new publishing label. New is relative here, as Infogrames is the name of the French company that renamed itself Atari in 2003, before completely acquiring the brand in 2008. Legacy titles first published by Infogrames may eventually arrive, but for now the plan is to use the revived brand to publish games outside Atari's core titles. The first of these appears to be Totally Reliable Delivery service, as the announcement includes news of the acquisition of this IP from tinyBuild. This purchase is another bit of sort-of insider trading, since Atari also recently invested in tinyBuild. "With Totally Reliable Delivery Service, Infogrames is starting off with a strong IP that has a loyal and enthusiastic player base," says Geoffroy Châteauvieux, Manager of Infogrames LLC. "The Infogrames team will be able to expand upon the strong work of tinyBuild, and re-energize this high-potential franchise." Here's more:
Infogrames intends to actively manage its catalog of titles by expanding digital and physical distribution, and developing new collections and sequels. Consistent with Atari’s approach, Infogrames sees game preservations as a core component of its mission.

Infogrames also announced today its first IP acquisition with the purchase of the Totally Reliable Delivery Service games, trademarks and underlying property from tinyBuild LLC. First released in 2019, Totally Reliable Delivery Service is an all-ages multiplayer sendup of the package delivery world, set in an open sandbox full of absurd gadgets, unlikely delivery vehicles and a healthy dose of chaos.

It's mostly cinematics, but there are a couple of glimpses of gameplay in the Official Launch Trailer showing this adds some detail to the original's vector graphics along with a survival/rescue story. Here's more:
An all-new adventure based on the classic Lunar Lander space flier, Lunar Lander Beyond is elevated from its simplistic arcade origins thanks to Dreams Uncorporated’s masterful infusion of its signature art style, a narrative-rich storyline, and a captivating universe where not everyone and everything is as it seems. A one-of-a-kind “adventure meets simulation” experience, Lunar Lander Beyond engrosses players with a vast story world and rewarding arcade-inspired gameplay and gravity flier mechanics.
