Get Dungeon of the ENDLESS for Free

Kicking off an ENDLESS SUMMER promotion, Dungeon of the ENDLESS is now available for free on Steam, giving everyone the chance to own this sci-fi roguelike for Windows, macOS, and Linux. This is free to keep, but the giveaway is time-limited. It's not clear when it will end, but the far from endless ENDLESS SUMMER concludes in three days, so it's best not to dawdle if you're interested. Here's a refresher:
A few hundred condemned criminals were being shipped to the Auriga system on board the prison hulk “Success”. While this was presented as a chance to earn back their place in society by working hard for the common good, they understood that in fact they would be slave labour, sent to colonize an unexplored planet. All they knew about Auriga Prime was what the probes told them: it had water, temperate zones, plant life, and plenty of metals in the crust.

In fact, the planet Auriga once hosted a major settlement of the galaxy-travelling ancestors known as the Endless. In addition, the planet was still orbited by a functioning (and well cloaked) defensive system, which sprang eagerly to life upon the arrival of the Success. Within a few minutes, the ship was nothing but a few large chunks of metal falling toward the planet.

Ubisoft Not Deleting Accounts with Games

A new update on the Closure of inactive Ubisoft accounts from Ubisoft Help has a reassurance for customers that despite indications otherwise, it will not be deleting any Ubisoft accounts with an active Ubisoft subscription or PC games purchased from the Ubisoft Store. Deleted accounts would lose access to any purchased games, so this is an important distinction. Here's word:
Inactive Ubisoft accounts, with no PC purchases or active subscriptions tied to them, may be closed in order to comply with data protection laws after long periods of inactivity.

Accounts tied to an active Ubisoft subscription, or PC games that have been purchased from the Ubisoft store, are not eligible for deletion.

We may close long-term inactive accounts to maintain our database. You will be notified by email if we begin the process of closing your inactive account.

Tencent and Techland Partnership

Techland's next chapter and the road ahead is an update from the developer revealing the road ahead goes through China, announcing Chinese tech conglomerate Tencent is set to become Techland's majority shareholder. This will help fulfill the "dream of turning Dying Light into the ultimate zombie game experience for players worldwide." Today I am happy to announce the partnership with Tencent who are in the process of becoming Techland's majority shareholder.

Teaming up with Tencent will allow us to move full speed ahead with the execution of the vision for our games. We have chosen an ally who has already partnered with some of the world's finest video game companies and helped them reach new heights while respecting their ways of doing things.

We will retain full ownership of our IPs, maintain creative freedom, and continue to operate the way we believe is right. I'm also going to continue serving as the studio’s CEO.

Play Your Steam Backlog for Charity

No Kid Hungry has cooked up a gamer promotion to assist in its titular chartable efforts to feed hungry children while attacking your game backlog. It announces today's launch of the Summer Backlog Battle which includes an app to identify the oldest, most neglected games in your Steam library and will generate donations based on playing them. Word is: "For the event, any gamer with a Steam account is welcome to participate and to fundraise. Creators are encouraged to share the fundraiser with their audience, and gamers who prefer to stay off-camera can make a difference by sharing the No Kid Hungry mission with their friends and family." Here's more:

The Summer Backlog Battle is a for-fun livestream fundraising competition to see who can play the most games from their Steam backlog with all donations going toward No Kid Hungry’s mission of ending childhood hunger in the United States. From July 24, 2023 until the end of August, creators will go live on their streaming platform of choice to play the dustiest games in their collections in the name of fighting hunger.

“The running joke is that we all have dozens of games in our backlog that we totally meant to play,” says Tyler Worthington, senior manager, Stream for No Kid Hungry. “But those games are easy to overlook and forget about with new games coming out all the time. Unfortunately, childhood hunger is also easy to overlook, so this event is really about turning good intentions into action that makes a real difference.”

ASMR Food Experience Playtest

If you think you've heard everything gaming has to offer, listen up! Gameparic announces plans to playtest ASMR Food Experience, an upcoming game of delicious foods and tingly sounds. You can request access on Steam if you'd like to lend an ear. Here's more on this unusual-sounding project:
ASMR - Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, is a pleasant tingling sensation around the head, neck and shoulders that occurs as a result of exposure to a specific stimulus - triggers. Typically, the triggers for this type of reaction are visual, tactile, or auditory sensations. In ASMR Food Experience, we will focus on combining two types of stimulus: sound and visual!

In the ASMR Food Experience, you play the role of the owner of a small restaurant. Some of your tasks in this simulator will be customer service. You will have to take care of proper deliveries, clean, take care of the herbarium and maintain the restaurant in the best condition. This will make a huge difference in the overall rating of your establishment, so you will increase interest, restaurant turnout and tips from guests.

Out of the Blue

Christopher Nolan: Directing James Bond Film Would Be a “Privilege.” In which case EON Productions would be crazy not to hire him. Somehow I doubt it will happen, though it would be fascinating to see how it turned out if it did. I'll just keep repeating my opinion that it's time to go back to the timeframe of the original novels and reboot the series in a 1950s setting. I'm not alone in hoping for this, but I don't think it's very likely.
