Juno: New Origins Launches

Juno: New Origins has officially launched for Windows and macOS on Steam following six years in Early Access. This was originally named SimpleRockets 2, reflecting its origins as a "simple rocket simulator." The new title reflects how the game's scope expanded considerably over that span. It is now billed as "a comprehensive aerospace sandbox" where you can design and build rockets, airplanes, and cars, and even entire planets. Here's the Launch Trailer to celebrate the news. Here's more on the game:
Juno: New Origins is a 3D aerospace sandbox where players can use customizable parts to construct and test rockets, planes, cars, or anything they can imagine in an environment with realistic physics across land, sea, air, and space.

Take control of your own aerospace company and earn money and tech points as you progress through the game. Complete contracts to earn money, and discover a mixture of hand-crafted and procedural contracts that offer countless hours of new gameplay. Conquer milestones and explore landmarks to earn tech points and unlock new technology in the tech tree. Interactive tutorials are available to show how to build and operate rockets, cars, and airplanes.

  • GameSpot: The Live-Service Game Bubble Looks Ready To Burst.
"It's hard to quantify how costly and dangerous this can be for video game studios. We've seen some live-service games close only for their studios to follow, like when Motiga's MOBA Gigantic failed to survive a rough launch and the studio was soon shuttered by publisher Perfect World. But even in the best case of a game closing, where the developers' jobs are safe, the disappearance of these games is a devastating blow to game preservation. For many games, living beyond their server closures will be limited to YouTube videos and firsthand accounts from players who got to experience them."

Sunday Mobilization

Out of the Blue

This annual first Sunday of the season with no tackle football is always tough for an NFL fan. It's a stark reminder of the football-free future that will follow next week's Super Bowl. Of course the annual Pro Bowl is scheduled for this afternoon. So yeah, as I say, today is the first Sunday of the season with no tackle football. Boo hoo.
