Scarlet Nexus Free Weekend on Steam

A free weekend is underway on Steam, giving everyone a couple of days to check out the full version of SCARLET NEXUS for Windows. This post covers the news, saying progress will carry over if you buy the full version of BANDAI NAMCO's action/RPG, which is currently on sale for 75% off. Here's a bit of what to expect:
In the far distant future, a psionic hormone was discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers and changed the world as we knew it. As humanity entered this new era, deranged mutants known as Others began to descend from the sky with a hunger for human brains. Highly resistant to conventional attack methods, extreme measures needed to be taken to battle the overwhelming threat and preserve humanity. Those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psionics, were our only chance to fight the onslaught from above. Since then, psionics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force (OSF), humanity’s last line of defense.

Steam DLC Discovery Hub

Valve announces the launch of Steam Labs Experiment 15, a new Discovery Hub for DLC For Your Games. This will help you find DLC for games you already own. This may seem a simple operation but it can take some horsepower to sort through the 690 DLC for Train Simulator Classic. Here's more on this solution to this... problem(?):
Today's new Steam Labs experiment is a store hub designed to help you find new content to enjoy in the games you already play.

You may have missed or forgotten about exciting add-on content for your favorite games, and this hub is designed to help you explore what is available and find ways of getting more of those great games. Whether it is individual character skins, content packs, new game modes, or huge expansion packs, there is probably something of interest to you.

Dead Space Released

EA and internal studio Motive announce the release of Dead Space for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, offering a ground-up remake of the original Dead Space from 2008. This is available for Windows on the Epic Games Store and Steam as a Standard or as a Digital Deluxe edition which includes some additional cosmetics. For those dead set on the ultimate Dead Space experience, there is also a USD$275 Collector's Edition from Limited Run Games with physical rewards including a wearable Isaac Clarke helmet. In addition to updated Frostbite engine graphics, the new version of the sci-fi survival/horror classic boasts enhanced audio and gameplay improvements over the original. The early word on the game is largely positive, as seen in this review roundup from yesterday. Here's the recent Official Launch Trailer and here's more on the game and the remake:
Dead Space puts players in the boots of Isaac Clarke, an everyman engineer on a routine mission to fix the USG Ishimura, a gigantic mining starship. But aboard the Ishimura , a living nightmare awaits. The ship’s crew has been slaughtered and Isaac’s girlfriend, Nicole, is missing somewhere on board. Alone and trapped with only his engineering tools and skills, Isaac faces a battle for survival — not only against terrifying monsters called Necromorphs, but his own crumbling sanity.

“When Dead Space launched in 2008, it immediately became a survival horror classic with its iconic sci-fi atmosphere and environmental narrative,” said Phillippe Ducharme, Senior Producer of Dead Space. “Our most important goal in remaking the game almost 15 years later is honoring the legacy of the original, while enhancing it with the power of today’s hardware. If this is your first time stepping into Isaac’s suit, we hope it creates the same, lasting impression that it did for us when we played it in 2008. If you are a returning player, our wish is to have delivered a game that lives up to your fondest memories, and that you’ll love picking up that Plasma Cutter once again.”

The Last Starship Demo

A playable demo for The Last Starship is now available on Steam, providing the chance to test-fly this space strategy game that's preparing to launch into Early Access next month. This is another title cleverly avoiding the rush of the upcoming Steam Next Fest. This comes just as Introversion unveils details on a Creative Mode version of the game's ship editor, which includes a new video where Mark and Chris introduce this feature. Here's more on Creative Mode and the demo:
Check out our latest video - Mark & Chris demonstrate the new 'Creative Mode' version of the ship editor, where you can build any ship of any size, with unlimited budget and no constraints on construction. You can instant spawn any equipment or resource or item.

We also demonstrate how our Ship Library can take all of your ship designs and all of the ships you've subscribed to on Steam Workshop, and all of our official ship designs, and use them to intelligently populate the game world.

In other big news - the DEMO of The Last Starship is now available on Steam for everyone. You would be doing us a huge favour if you would help us share this demo around - invite all your friends to play, tell everyone you know who will listen :) Steam Next Fest is rapidly approaching, and we are hoping our demo will be popular in that festival.
