Early Access to Paragon: The Overprime is now underway on the Epic Games Store and Steam, offering the chance to try one of the games based on Paragon, Epic's failed MOBA. This free-to-play game is not the only new release based on Paragon, as Predecessor is also now in Early Access on the Epic Games Store and Steam (thanks GameSpot), offering a paid game using the same assets. For a look at each, here's a Predecessor: Early Access Launch Trailer and a PARAGON: The Overprime Early Access Launch Trailer. Here are rundowns on each game:
Paragon: The Overprime is an action TPS MOBA that anyone can play for free. Choose one of the heroes with original skills, destroy the enemy's base, and claim it as your own. Experience the synesthetic actions from third-person view and the countless possible strategies from the synergy between heroes and in-game items. Predecessor is a fast-paced action game that combines MOBA and FPS gameplay putting you at the heart of the fight with strategic choice, third person control and immersive action.

Crime Boss: Rockay City is a first-person shooter in the works at developer INGAME STUDIOS and publisher 505 Games. This is coming to PC and consoles, and is expected to launch on the Epic Games Store on March 28, 2023. This has an organized crime theme, and will feature a cast of well-known Hollywood actors. This was unveiled at The Game Awards in a bizarre presentation featuring Michael Madsen, who plays the game's crime boss. Set in the 1990s, the rest of the game's cast is like a who's who of the decade, featuring Michael Rooker, Kim Basinger, Danny Glover, Danny Trejo, Vanilla Ice, and Chuck Norris. Here's the official Announce Trailer, and here's more:
Rockay City. A thriving metropolis with excitement buzzing from the sandy bay to the towering skyscrapers. But beyond the glamour, there is a fierce turf war raging on…

Escape Simulator Adds Wild West DLC

New Wild West DLC is available on Steam, adding new content to Escape Simulator, the puzzle room simulation for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Most escapes we recall from westerns involve pulling the bars from a cell with a horse team, but this takes a more cerebral approach. You can see this in action in the Release Trailer. Well, action may be the wrong word. Word is this adds four new thematic rooms to the game:
The Wild West DLC adds four new exciting rooms to Escape Simulator, all befitting the theme of the Wild West: the Sheriff's Office, the Saloon, the Bank and Post Office and the Train. Whereas the recommended amount of players for previously released rooms was three, these rooms can easily be played by groups of four!

To make sure players can get started with this adventure in proper style, this addition to the game is accompanied by a new set of outfits. Do you want to dress as a sleek sheriff, or would you rather be a rugged outlaw? The choice is yours! And that’s not all - a soundtrack consisting of four tracks is also added to go with each of the new Wild West rooms.

Ash of Gods: The Way Demo

As part of the ongoing TurnBasedFest, a playable demo for Ash of Gods: The Way is now available on Steam, allowing a sample of this turn-based RPG from AurumDust. This post introduces the demo and hosts a Demo Launch Trailer with a look at what to expect. Here's a bit on the game's card-based action:
Ash of Gods: The Way is a story-driven game with tactical card combat and multiple possible endings. The rules and objectives can shift with every battle - even the shapes and sizes of the battlefields themselves are often changing. Players are forced to adapt their strategy and switch up their decks often in order to keep coming out on top. The game’s original two-deck gameplay, unique scripts and diverse array of locations make sure to keep the stakes high, challenging players to approach every fight from a fresh perspective. In the end, will they manage to make the right choices and prevent a war that will devastate their home and the entire Berkana Kingdom?

Out of the Blue

Happy birthday DOOM, as the game-changing first-person shooter first appeared on December 10, 1993 (hopefully by telefragging some unsuspecting victim). My desktop PC still being on the workbench is not a problem, I can celebrate by playing a little DOOM on my laptop. But as demonstrated over the years, I could also play this on a phone, a smartwatch, or a refrigerator screen. Pretty funny when recalling the full PC upgrades so many of us made to play the game in its day. Apparently a lot happens in 29 years! For instance, when DOOM was new, the only 29 year-old computer game on record was The Sumerian Game, a text-based strategy game that ran on a tube-powered IBM mainframe. I bet that could run on more systems by 1993 as well. Anyway, happy birthday DOOM! Looking forward to a 30th anniversary next year and more to come after that.
