Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Released

The dark tide has rolled in, as Fatshark has officially launched Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, a single-player and co-op first-person shooter set in the war torn Warhammer 40K universe. The game is available for Windows on Steam and the Microsoft Store as well as through PC Game Pass and GeForce NOW. Here's the Launch Trailer showing off gameplay and cinematics. For those who played the beta, the post announcing the launch includes patch notes from the previous version. Here's word on how this pushes you to accept your role as a reject:

Steam Top New October Releases

As we reach the end of November, Valve offers a look back at October, outlining the top new releases on Steam for the month. The sales page rounds up all these titles into one place if you want to go shopping. For context, this blog post discusses the news and how it relates to the upcoming Game Awards. Here's a portion:
With The Game Awards right around the corner, we are thrilled to see a big group of October's Top Releases earning much deserved nominations across a variety of categories. Genre-defining Vampire Survivors is up for Best Debut Indie, while Paradox's Victoria 3 vies for Best Sim/Strategy and frighteningly-surreal Scorn goes for Best Visual Design. 22 Racing Series | RTS-Racing Released

GOATi Entertainment has released 22 Racing Series | RTS-Racing into Early Access for Windows on Steam. As the name suggests, this adds real-time strategy elements to the racing genre. This results in a game described as "Gran Turismo meets Wipeout, meets Starcraft, meets Monopoly." In case that doesn't immediately conjure an image, here's the Release Trailer with a look at gameplay. Here's word on the game, explaining that all this high-speed racing is somehow a response to climate change:
As the world hovers on the brink of total climate collapse a century in the future, daredevils, speed freaks, and adrenaline addicts turn to a virtual future physics racing (FPR) sphere for sport and entertainment accessible to all.

Leave the shackles of peril behind as vehicles tear and speed through twisted tracks based on real locations from around the world. Master traditional racing modes like Time Trials, Circuit Racing, Elimination Rounds, and Point-to-Point Racing. Disney Speedstorm Delayed

Disney Speedstorm carried a 2022 release window when it was announced in February. Now Disney and Pixar reveal a delay, saying the free-to-play battle-racing game will arrive on PC and consoles in 2023. This tweet has the news (thanks Gematsu):
We have been working diligently to craft an amazing racing experience for Disney Speedstorm, capturing our vision of the exciting magic fans enjoy in their favorite Disney and Pixar characters and games. We want fans to not only be entertained, but to enjoy a fast-paced and competitive racing experience they will return to play for years to come.

With this in mind and after careful consideration, we have decided to delay the worldwide release of Disney Speedstorm to meet our expectations and provide players with a more immersive racing experience, customization offerings, game modes and more.

Fans are invited to join us on the speedway when Disney Speedstorm launches in 2023 on PC and Consoles.

Gone Gold - Master of Magic

Slitherine announces development is complete on Master of Magic, saying the now-gold fantasy-themed strategy/RPG remake will arrive as promised on December 13th. That is also the date of the Slitherine Next presentation. You can catch up on the game and/or add it to your wishlist via Steam. Here's more on the magic this will allow you to master:
The new cult classic, combining fantasy RPG with deeply-woven, challenging 4X strategy, is jointly developed by Slitherine, the renowned strategy and wargame publisher, and Polish studio MuHa Games. Mahokenshi in January

Game Source Studio and Iceberg Interactive announce Mahokenshi will arrive on Steam on January 24th, offering strategic deckbuilding gameplay that puts you in the role of a samurai mage in a demon-infested environment. This is about a year later than was expected when the game was first announced. A new teaser trailer reveals the date and shows off the game in action. Here's more:

Steam Deck Ships Next Month in Some Asian Countries

Valve and Komodo announce the Steam Deck will begin shipping in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan on December 17th. Additionally, reservations for Steam Deck Docking Stations are now underway in those countries. Here's the plan:
Valve and Komodo, the licensed provider of Steam Deck in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan, today announced the first units of Valve’s Steam Deck will begin shipping in these regions on December 17th. In addition, reservations for the Steam Deck Docking Station are now open to customers in these regions through Komodo’s Steam Deck site (https://steamdeck.komodo.jp/).

Starting December 1st, customers who have reserved their Steam Deck as of this writing will begin receiving requests to finalize their order. Once confirmed, their order will be scheduled for shipping. The first units begin shipping on December 17th, with delivery times expected to vary from a few days to a couple of weeks.

Reservations for the Docking Station, which secures and extends the places and ways the Steam Deck can be used,may now be placed via Komodo’s site (https://steamdeck.komodo.jp/). While supplies last, Docks will be delivered together with previously ordered Steam Decks in each of the four territories.

As mentioned last night, yesterday was the 50th anniversary of the original launch of Pong. Rebounding from my (now deleted) nonsense comment about Pac-Man (sorry), we further celebrate the occasion with the logo now adorning our desktop view. This was created by Walter "2" Costinak to commemorate the game, and was recently updated by Steve to work with format changes here.
