Will Wright's Blockchain VOXverse

Will Wright Takes You Inside VOXverse is a video introducing a new blockchain venture by The Sims creator. At first we thought this was just a rehash of a familiar-sounding story from last year. But VOXverse is a different project in the works at Gallium Studios, the studio Wright co-founded with Lauren Elliott (Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?). This is in cooperation with Gala Games, which us also partnering with Peter Molyneux on an NFT game. So with that pedigree, you know the hype will be strong with this one. Here's a helping of that we cribbed from PC Gamer:

"Almost everything in this world is actually going to be constructed by the players," Wright said in a video introducing the game. "We're going to have very simple tools for the players to construct buildings, objects, vehicles, etc. There'll be a whole economy, resources you can mine, plots that you can own, plus a social side of the game where you build a social network [with] the other Voxes that you meet."

"There will also be jobs," Wright notes later in the video. "We'll allow people to actually create business, employ other Voxes, or work in a job. One of the interesting things here is that even when you're offline your Vox is still going to be online as an NPC, so when I'm offline my Vox can still be working at a job and earning me money."

Horror Tycoon Early Access

Horror Tycoon is now in Early Access on Steam, offering the chance to build and manage a haunted house. The goal here seems to be to frighten guests, so put aside any thoughts of any Saw-style dismemberment puzzles. Here's a trailer, and here's a bit on the bag of tricks you'll use to terrify your patrons:
Build walls, doorways, trap doors, fake walls, and more to guide your guests through the haunted attraction maze. You can design your haunted house with many attractions: lighting effects, ghostly paintings, spooky props, and more, to elaborate attractions with incredible detail to scare your guests enough to leave before they can reach the exit, or risk losing fear reputation, and cash.

Purchase new attractions with a fear reputation, but be careful the more of the same attractions you have and the closer they are to each other may result in a negative effect on your guests and not be as scary. Put scare traps along the way from ghosts to aliens and everything in between.

Out of the Blue

We have the first in a spate of medical mini-adventures today, as MrsBlue and I have appointments for COVID boosters. We're scheduled to get the Moderna bivalent, which reportedly holds the promise of greater effectiveness and greater side-effects. So I continue to be a guinea pig for the mix-and-match approach. My first shot was Janssen, my second was Pfiser, and now Moderna. I didn't find the first two go-rounds especially debilitating. If no updates show up later, you'll know my luck ran out. But I don't think that will be the case.
