Chasm: The Rift Released

Chasm: The Rift is now available on Steam and GOG.com*, offering a boomer shooter that's appropriate to today's anniversary of DOOM II. This can be seen in the previously released Official Announcement Trailer. Chasm comes by its retro gameplay honestly, as it's a remake of a game first released in 1997 by Ukrainian developer Action Forms. Word is: "This fully reconstructed remaster delivers enhanced graphics with full 4K and widescreen support, improved sound design, and controller support to the classic 1997 title, as well as the original Chasm: The Rift version powered by DOSBox included as a bonus." Here's more:
In Chasm: The Rift, players take on the role of a soldier in a special commando unit who defends planet Earth from “Timestrikers”, monstrous mutants invading Earth throughout history, and also destroy time channels to finally rid Earth of their threat. One against the horde, players will rely solely on their reflexes and the many weapons at their disposal to find their way through labyrinthine levels populated by fearsome creatures.

Along with a heart-pounding adventure through the Corridors of Time and the satisfaction of ripping limbs from hideous monsters with the iconic BladeGun, and an innovative weather system, old-school FPS fans (or boomer shooter lovers) are now able to enjoy this late 90’s FPS classic with the comfort of modern PCs via Steam and GOG, now with full 4K support, improved sound design, achievements, and localised into twelve languages.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Requires Phone Number

Blizzard Support announces a phone number is required for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II accounts as well as new Modern Warfare (2019) accounts. This "SMS Protect" feature caused enough problems for the recent launch of Overwatch 2 it was quickly scaled back. Word is such verification is also making its way into some Blizzard games:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, newly created Overwatch 2 accounts, and newly created Call of Duty: Modern Warfare accounts, require that you add a phone number to your Battle.net account.

In addition to the games mentioned above, some games require a phone number in order to use the in-game features like World of Warcraft Group Finder or unlocking the World of Warcraft 4 extra bag slots (requires both a phone number and Authenticator).

Project Wunderwaffe Released

Project Wunderwaffe has taken off, and is now officially available for Windows on Steam. This is another game based on the premise that towards the end of World War II, Germany was working on secret weapons capable of turning the tide of the conflict. The Release Trailer shows off your secret underground fortress and some gameplay. There was a playable demo during last week's Steam Next Fest, but this is now gone like tears in rain. Here's more:
In the game you back into the realities of World War II, the end of which seems to be near. Your order is to build a secret military base and construct weapons of unprecedented power. You got only one chance to construct a wunderwaffe. Welcome to the base!

Build a self-sufficient, huge, underground complex that is an epic fortress that cannot exist without you. Build your base wisely, manage and develop it. The network of underground corridors and special-purpose rooms must function efficiently. Mine resources, break codes, develop the technology tree, and cooperate with spies.

Robowars Returns

N-Game Studios announces the relaunch of Robowars on Steam. This tower defense game shows an original release date of October 24, 2014. We don't actually recall the game's launch nor its disappearance, but that's all behind us, as it's now back. This post discusses the news, saying the game lost its publisher, and its return comes with a significant price reduction and a sale. Here's a bit on the game:
In the near future, mankind has opened the way to the stars – made possible through the use of droids, able to operate in the hostile environment of the deep space. However, both spaceships and droids are dependent on ‘Neonium’ for their power. However, this new source of energy was only found in the moons of Pluto and deposits are very limited, so the search started for a new supply.

Out of the Blue

Happy birthday DOOM II! The first-person sequel first arrived on the scene on October 10, 1994, making it 28(!) years old today. This site was originally focused on Quake, but there would be no Quake without DOOM. Thus, there would be no Blue's News without DOOM. I still haven't managed to get together with my friend to play our promised Chocolate DOOM match, but this occasion may serve as the proper impetus.
