Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Announced

The BioWare Blog announces the developer's next adventure will be Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, a new installment in the RPG series. This title for Dragon Age 4 has apparently been in the planning stages for a while, as the news pays off on a tweet from a few years ago. There's no release date, but we're told it will not arrive in 2022. There's not much more to the announcement besides the game's official title, but we're told to expect more information later this year:
Solas, the Dread Wolf. Some say he might be an ancient elven god, but some say not. Others say a betrayer of his people…or a savior who now seeks to rescue them at the cost of your world. His motives are inscrutable and his methods sometimes questionable, earning him a reputation as something of a trickster deity—a player of dark and dangerous games.

Whether you’re new to Dragon Age™ stories or you’ve experienced them all, using Solas’s namesake no doubt suggests a spectrum of endless possibilities on where things may go. But at the core of this, like every past game, is you. If you’re new to Dragon Age, you have no need to worry about not having met our antagonist just yet. He’ll properly introduce himself when the time is right, but we did hint at his return when we announced #TheDreadWolfRises back in 2018.

Steam Deck Docks Delayed

Valve announces Docking Stations for the Steam Deck are going to take a little longer to arrive at shipping docks. The post blames COVID-19 and the supply chain. But there's also the implication that a little more time to work on how the hubs operate is not unwelcome:
Hi all. Due to parts shortages and COVID closures at our manufacturing facilities, the official Steam Deck Docking Station is delayed. We're working on improving the situation and will share more info when we have it. This has no effect on production schedule and reservation windows for Steam Decks (different parts, different factories).

In the meantime the team is continuing to work on improving the docked experience for Steam Deck with all USB-C hubs and external displays.

TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity Rises

Steam now offers the official release of TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity, which has now climbed out of Early Access, where it garnered very positive reviews. In addition to the launch of version 1.0 for Windows, the game is also now available on Switch. The game's title comes from the tower one must climb in this roguelike platformer and how it perpetually resets its layout every 24 hours. In contrast to the dire threat of permadeath, the game features cutesy throwback graphics, which are shown off in the Launch Trailer. Here's more on how this works:
Five prisoners seek freedom from the ever-changing maze of the infernal Tower of Perpetuity. Start the ascension as one of these heroes, each with their own magical skill like screen-clearing blasts or spinning knives to ward off hordes of foes, and use careful platforming while the skill recharges. Skillfully dodge each boss's bullet-hell attacks by strategically using the platforms to avoid their attack patterns and strike when their shields drop.

The tower refreshes with a brand new layout every 24 hours, with all climbers worldwide tackling the same procedurally-generated tower. Discover branching paths each run by praying to one god or another, and find the best approach to the top. After every completed level and defeated boss, find ranks of daily challengers who haven’t let their characters die in the ascending labyrinth. Both Nintendo Switch and Steam players around the world share the same online leaderboards, competing for the undisputed crown each day.

Gravitar: Recharged Floats Out

Revived publisher Atari announces the release of Gravitar: Recharged, a revival of an arcade game from the company's original glory days. This is available for PC and consoles, and it can be purchased for Windows, macOS, and Linux on Steam or for Windows and macOS on the Epic Games Store. The previously released Announcement Trailer shows the updated gameplay in the re-release. Here's word:
Gravitar: Recharged is a modern-day remake of a 1982 hidden treasure. Capturing the celestial fascination of deep space, Gravitar: Recharged captures the "rotate, thrust, and fire" action of Asteroids and Space Duel and melds it with the mind-bending gravity physics of Lunar Lander. Remembered fondly as a challenging arcade game, the original Gravitar captivated the interest of arcade aficionados but failed to become a commercial hit upon its initial release. Now, Atari has collaborated with developers Sneakybox and Adamvision Studios to breathe new life into the cult classic, exposing it to a new generation of players.

Out of the Blue

I think I am guilty of complaining about sports when things are going poorly, but not being nearly appreciative enough when they are going well. So let me compliment the New York Rangers on their stellar performances in the playoffs so far. I'm the clichéd hockey fan who only shows interest during the playoffs. But real Rangers fans comprise the best, most passionate fanbase in New York City, and I'm happy for them that things are going well. And then there's the Mets. I complained a lot about their austerity program, but I never expected new ownership to be able to turn things around so quickly, regardless of how much they spent. The team has been playing lights-out all season. They start a series today with the Dodgers, who have been equally outstanding all season, so this is a chance to see how they do against top-level competition. Very cool.

Cool Round-up
Thanks Ant and Neutronbeam.
