Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II in October

Activision announces an official launch date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, saying the military shooter sequel will arrive on October 28th. The announcement is marked by a huge publicity stunt unveiling the game's key art using a cargo ship. Here's an Artwork Reveal showing how this unfolded, and there's a Blizzard News post recapping the festivities. The failure to strand the ship in the Suez Canal is a missed opportunity, but there's always next time. Here's word:
Moments ago, the Call of Duty franchise did something only they could pull off, revealing one of the biggest-in-sheer-size entertainment advertisements of all time. Over the course of 24 hours, a team maneuvered a massive cargo ship containing a 90,000 square foot Modern Warfare II wrap prominently displaying the popular and fan-favorite Call of Duty video game character Simon “Ghost” Riley. Once the ship docked on the port of Long Beach, a giant puzzle was revealed, as the port contained another MW2 image that aligned with the cargo ship’s wrap.

As the docking took place, drone footage captured the ship’s movement while also revealing a first look at the game’s squad, called “Task Force 141,” featuring a global cast of characters. The massive piece of art also finally confirmed the release date of the highly-anticipated new entry in the Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare II, set for global release on October 28, 2022.

Battlefield 2042 "Winding Down" Hazard Zone

A new Battlefield Briefing: Development Update has the latest from DICE on changes and improvements coming to Battlefield 2042. There's a video, and this is accompanied by an extensive outline of the plans, including the launch of Season One next month. This focuses on a lot of additions, such as new maps, experiences, modes, and other content. But there's also a subtraction, as further development on Hazard Zone is "winding down," not long after the launch of what was planned as a third "distinct" multiplayer experience for the military shooter. Here's word:
One final piece of news for you to take away from today’s video - we’re winding down future development on Hazard Zone. All of us on the team had great ambition and high hopes for this new Battlefield experience throughout our development, but we’re the first to hold our hands up and acknowledge that it hasn’t found the right home in Battlefield 2042 and that we’ll benefit greatly from letting our focus and energy stay on the modes we see you engaging most with.

Hazard Zone will stay as part of the experience, we’re not switching it off, but beyond addressing critical errors and odd behaviors that may appear in the future, we’re no longer actively developing new experiences or content for the mode, and you’ll find that maps that we release across our seasons will not be supported in Hazard Zone.

Out of the Blue

The swans both appeared on the pond this weekend, which was the first time we've seen them there since they began nesting in the adjacent marsh. This led me to speculate their brood may have hatched, and a Facebook post by a neighbor confirms this is the case. I'll take a walk past the area this afternoon to see if I can spot anyone. I'll be careful, as I don't want to upset anyone, but I would love to get a look at the babies when they're still so little.

Hatched Round-up
Thanks Ant and Neutronbeam.
