Fall Guys Goes F2P on the EGS Next Month

Mediatonic announces Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout will go free-to-play on June 21st, opening up the battle royale platformer to even the cheapest of skates. At that time the game will come to Xbox and Switch for the first time. Also, the Windows edition is moving to the Epic Games Store, something that became inevitable when Epic Games purchased Mediatonic parent Tonic Games Group. If you own the game on Steam you'll be fine going forward, but it will no longer be sold after the transition. To celebrate, Fall Guys Free For All Pre-Registration is underway, offering various in-game rewards for all players who sign up in advance. The news involves crossplay support, a new Season Pass, and a free legacy pack for those who already paid for the game. Here's the Fall Guys Free for All Announcement Stream and more:
Whether you’re on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, the Epic Games Store or a mix of all of the above, you’ll be able to play Fall Guys for free —with cross-play, cross-platform parties and cross-progression fully supported with the use of your Epic Games Account.

PlayStation™ and Steam™ players who already have a copy of Fall Guys will continue to receive all the usual updates (such as new seasons, patches and fresh features) that you’d expect. However, new players will no longer be able to download Fall Guys on Steam—if you’re new to Fall Guys and would like to play on PC, you can visit the Epic Games Store™ and download the launcher there. Wherever you choose to play Fall Guys (including Steam), you’ll be able to launch and stumble towards victory across platforms.

Kerbal Space Program 2 Delayed Again

A video update announces a Kerbal Space Program 2 "Timing Update," which is a euphemism for a delay. This is the third such setback for the simulation sequel, but it's not like you can say this isn't rocket science. The Windows edition of the game is now expected early next year, with the console version to follow at some point after that. Here's what Nate Simpson says about the status of the project:
We are creating a game of immense technological complexity, and we've assembled a team of passionate, talented people to achieve that goal. But we've also set ourselves a very high bar of quality. The game has to be performant across a wide range of machines. The graphics have to be peerless. The universe has to be rich and interesting to explore.

We've set ourselves the goal internally of creating an experience that is both original and breathtaking. And as I’ve mentioned before we've augmented our team with the developers of the original Kerbal Space Program. And together, we're creating something of which we are all very, very proud.

Mars Tactics Announced

Hooded Horse announces Mars Tactics, a turn-based strategy game coming to Steam by way of the red planet next year. This will feature team-based combat between asymmetrical teams. The Announcement Trailer shows off gameplay and 3D pixel graphics. Here's more on the concept, as Mars once again turns out to be the frontline of interplanetary labor relations:
Mars Tactics combines turn-based tactical gameplay with large-scale strategy across a detailed map of Mars. Choose one of two asymmetric factions – Capital or Labor – and lead soldiers that grow and learn dynamically from what happens to them in each battle. Vehicles, air strikes, and artillery all allow you to reshape the destructible buildings and environment of each battlefield.

In the battle of Capital vs Labor, who will you choose? The Mellon Corporation – Capital – monopolizes the mining of a new rare element with the potential to solve all of Earth’s energy needs. But the workers on Mars – Labor – are exposed to deadly mining conditions and cut off from all regulatory protection they might have enjoyed while on Earth. Will you lead Labor in the rise from a small band of desperate workers scrounging for ammunition and supplies, or accept charge of the vast resources and powerful starting position of Capital (but be forever beholden to the relentless demands of your shareholders on Earth)?

A Teaser Trailer offers a look at the horror that underlies the game's idyllic remote island, though sadly this includes neither a Wicker Man nor any bees that we can see. Here are some enchanting details:
Set at a spiritual retreat on a remote island, The Chant has you trying to survive encountering a host of ethereal terrors unleashed after a ritual chant goes horribly awry and opens a portal to a nightmare dimension named The Gloom.

This dimension feeds off negative energy, driving you and the others mad by preying on anxieties and fears, manifesting them as interdimensional creatures. The Chant takes you on a journey of psychedelic horror the likes of which has never been experienced before.

Out of the Blue

As we round into spring, it's renewals and cancellations season at the TV networks. Since MrsBlue and I tend to adopt a weird sitcom or two every year, this always leads to disappointing cancellations and surprise renewals for us. But the news about a show on the bubble we were most eagerly awaiting was not even for a show we watch. It's the good news that ‘Call Me Kat’ (is) Renewed For A Third Season At Fox. As I've mentioned before, Mayim Bialik has ruined Jeopardy in the BlueTower, as MrsBlue refuses to watch episodes she hosts. So the news that her prior commitment continues amid complaints about her leaking answers, accepting incorrect responses, and insulting contestants leave us hopeful that Ken Jennings will get the permanent hosting job once and for all.

Renewed Round-up
Thanks Ant and Neutronbeam.
