Apple Asks Court to Deny Epic Appeal

Apple is urging the court to deny Epic's appeal of the decision in Epic's lawsuit over App Store royalties. Reuters (may require registration or subscription) reports Apple is claiming Epic has not made its case:
Apple in its reply on Thursday said Epic had failed to propose a reasonable alternative to the App Store policies.

"Epic asks the Judiciary to fundamentally change the App Store by forcing Apple to abandon the integrated distribution and digital-content delivery model that, among many other procompetitive benefits, helps safeguard user security and privacy," the court filing said.

Steam Alpha for Chrome OS

Valve announces the promised alpha version of Steam for Chrome OS is now available to developers. The post updates us on this project and its goals:
As of Monday this week, an early version of Steam for Chrome OS has been made available to developers. Google and Valve have been collaborating on this project, which will ship to end users sometime in the future. Because Chrome OS is a Linux-based operating system, it can leverage much of the work that Valve has recently done for Steam Deck to allow games to run well even when they don't have a native Linux build. Google engineers have worked to greatly expand the capability of Chrome OS to make this possible.

Access is currently limited to those who are running their Chromebooks in developer mode. If you have a Chromebook that meets the system requirements (Intel Iris Xe Graphics, 11th Gen Core i5 or i7 processors, and at least 8GB of RAM), then you can try running your game through Steam on a Chromebook today to see a preview of what users will see on current or future Chrome OS hardware.

Out of the Blue

I'm very excited about the new remastered versions of the Godfather Trilogy. Like many, I have some issues with the third movie, but like most enthusiasts, the first two land high on my list of favorites. I'm also someone who enjoys rewatching a good movie after some time has passed. This works out great, as I haven't had a viewing in so long I can't remember when the last one was. So I am looking forward to popping some corn, leaving the gun, grabbing the cannoli, and revisiting the tragic saga of the Corleone family this weekend.

Round-up You Can't Refuse
Thanks Ant and Neutronbeam.
