The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories Coming to Russia After All

Our Commitment to You is an announcement from EA saying the My Wedding Stories pack for The Sims 4 will be released in Russia after all. Just last week it was announced that the pack would not come to Russia because its depiction of same sex marriages was said to run afoul of laws in Russia outlawing same-sex unions. Without explaining what has changed, EA now says the pack can be released in Russia without any changes, so this can still be a match made in heaven:
Since then, we’ve been listening to the outpouring of feelings from our community including both support for our decision and concern for their fellow community members. It’s equally important for us to stand by our values, including standing against homophobia, and to share stories like this with those who want and need it most.

With this in mind, we’ve reassessed our options and realized we can do more than we initially believed and we will now release The Sims 4 “My Wedding Stories” Game Pack to our community in Russia, unaltered and unchanged, featuring Dom and Cam.

We want the entire Sims community to be able to celebrate together, so we're pushing the global release of "My Wedding Stories" to February 23 - including in Russia.

CDPR Vet Forms Rebel Wolves

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, formerly of CD PROJEKT RED, announces the formation of Rebel Wolves, a new development studio based in Warsaw. The developer's first project will be "a AAA, story-driven RPG saga for PCs and next-gen consoles," and more details are promised soon. This fits with the company's pedigree, as Tomaszkiewicz served as Game Director on The Witcher 3 and Head of Production on Cyberpunk 2077, and he is drawing veterans of those projects into the new company. Konrad is the subject of an interview on GamesIndustry.biz discussing the news. Here's a bit more from the announcement:
Rebel Wolves was born with aspirations of breaking away from the weight of AAA development studios and approaching every goal as a team. Bringing together a talented team of industry veterans from projects such as The Witcher Series, Cyberpunk 2077, Thronebreaker, and Shadow Warrior 2, Rebel Wolves is a new studio built on the foundations of fairness, teamwork, and openness. Unified by the mission of [putting] the team first—ALWAYS—they believe that happy people create great games as they endeavor to revolutionize the RPG genre with their first project. The first of a planned saga, Rebel Wolves’ first title is AAA dark fantasy built inside the Unreal 5 engine.

Out of the Blue

I've mentioned my dislike for the winter dreariness in the past. I don't think I have full-on S.A.D., but like a lot of people, I find the cold and dark can be a bit of a bummer. So it is nice that we're at the point where the amount of daylight each day is noticeably greater. It'll still be a while before it's warm enough to enjoy the great outdoors here in the northeast, but at least being indoors is becoming noticeably less bleak.

Obituary: PJ O'Rourke dead at 74 – Ex-editor of National Lampoon & beloved journalist mourned for 'great literary accomplishments.'
